Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

I can't believe there are people out there who think our squad will be stronger next season than this season.

We have zero money. And our books are a shambles. We have debts to pay, and virtually no owner right now.

We need a miracle

I understand your viewpoint, but football really is a funny old game. We went from relegation candidates to Champions League qualifiers by swapping a prime Wayne Rooney for Marcus Bent.

We have a good defence, and if we added a bit of creativity into the centre of the park, then I think we can definitely improve upon our performance from this season.

I see a return of Everloan this Summer.

Remember we got Barry, Deulofeu and Lukaku all in on loan the same window. A repeat of that would go a long way!
The only problem is that was Martinez we have Dyche, those players don't put the hard yards in, he wants your Ashley youngs and you Harrisons 🫣

For me replacing Doucoure & Harrison are key. We need pace, workrate and creativity in both positions.

A decent attacking full back on the right side wouldn't hurt either. Plus any outgoings from our fully fit lineup & subs need replacing with competant players with room to improve.

Its going to be bloody tough.

It’s all about keeping Branthwaite and replacing Harrison with someone more skilled and adding a creative midfielder.
Beto looks dirt so hopefully DCL stays fit and Chermiti kicks on.

No cash to spend, only cash to bring in by destructing our squad, so why would we be looking at Adebayo or Adams.

Because we should be looking to sell Maupay, along with one of Beto or DCL.

Chermiti either needs substantial game time in our first team next season or a loan to somewhere at a decent standard where he'll get 20 starts - much like Branthwaite did at PSV.

Do you have any examples?

Maupay’s loan move has done nothing but save us money on his wages and increase Maupay’s market value. Whereas ‘sucking it up’ and having him stink out the substitutes bench would have done the exact opposite of that.

We need to get rid of Beto, as he isn’t good enough and he has a contract until 2027. A loan move, possibly at a level more suitable to his talent, would save us money on his wages and would hopefully make him more attractive to potential buyers. This won’t happen if he’s stinking out our bench.

Che Adams has a market value of between 10 and 15 million imo, and his wage demands are not going to be sky high. He’d be much better value for money as a sub, and we’d also be able to fetch 10 million or so for him next summer if we wanted.

What the difference between Beto and Adams? Value for money.
sorry, meant to reply to this and got side-tracked.

What's been happening a lot during the Mosh era is we'd attract players with generous PL wages, give up on them within a season or two and then loan them at a reduced rate to poorer clubs abroad.

Sandro Ramirez, Dele Alli, Cenk Tosun, Andre Gomes, Nikola Vlasic, Bolasie, (Davy Klaasen, James Rodriguez was attempted), Schneiderlin

I'm sure the list goes on - and we could debate each one, some were better deals than others.

In better times, this is something David Moyes didn't seem to have to do - he would coach as best he could to use them in the season.

Even Dyche has managed to utilize Gomes a bit - and Beto - for an 'Ok' season given our situation.

loaning more players for losses and using a kind of 'out of sight, out of mind' approach to players on our books is something i don't like to see.

I appreciate you may think Beto is that bad that 'something is better than nothing' for the benefit of our cash-flows - but we still need strikers and I'd say we need to do what we can with what we have - unless you can sell him now for a cash injection

If only that was all it was about. We're losing players this summer who played a combined 164 games last season.

We need to add probably about 6 players minimum to the squad just to cover those leaving (Harrison, Danjuma, Gueye, Gomes, Coleman and Young).

As it stands we have only: McNeil, Onana, Garner and Doucoure as midfield and wide options for next season.

Gonna be a rotten Summer.
