Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

The O'Brien signing is one of the few examples of good planning by the recruitment team.

If/when Branthwaite leaves O'Brien will have had a full season to get to know the set up, what's expected, his team mates etc.

People think you can just sign a player and throw them straight in but that's often just not real life.
Also it was low down-payment that's the issue with Gnonto it's big upfront fees they want

I don’t think we are.

It’s not a huge fee, and replacing what he provides to the team is a much more difficult task than some people think. Especially in a matter of hours.
He won't provide anything though. Doesn't want to be here and has a history of injury problems so won't want to scupper his next move. Will be like having a hologram in the side.

Maupay comfortably beats everyone we have at that.

I've no doubt whatsoever that Everton are a better team with Calvert-Lewin upfront, than Beto. Especially in Dyche's anti-football pragmatism.

But someone has just proved that we are only ever so slightly a better team with him in, based on stats,

given that MOST of the data he used was times when our other options where people like Rondon, Maupay Gray, not much to shout home about.

people keep saying DCL makes everton better under dyche, but the same people say DCL is struggling because of dyche, so what is it?

he's certainly not good enough for people to warrant this much fussing, we wouldn;t be any less of a threat until January with Beto/chermiti leadding the line than DCL, that's all that matters for now
