The best role for both Luis and Onana is the midfield anchor that we dont use. The space between two central midfielders and the two centre backs would be fully covered by either of them.

Instead of that role we have Doucoure well advanced like a second forward and then it seems Garner a little more advanced typically than Onana. Of course in games its more fluid but it looks very unbalanced to me.

This is why im asking if Luis is more similar to Gana or Onana as I've not watched him play myself.

I don't like it personally but Dyche isn't going to change his system and Onana doesn't fit anywhere in that system.

We need a replacement for Gana, not Onana imo. And I'm saying that as someone who rates Onana highly.

problem with loads of freebies is their high wages

we are in a position where we can't spend much money and we can't offer a decent wage

so that means our market is pretty much limited to very young players, good players from fringe leagues like belgium, holland, scotland etc. or seasoned veterans from the lower leagues

Just see him as a better option at lb than young, will prob be others we could get aswell just because is free and money will be tight again. With so many postions we need players in aswell just hard

We know Young can do a job (As much as we don't like it) Taylor really isn't good enough or certainly no upgrade on Young imo.

I hate to bring up 777 but if you look at the first window they had with Genoa we kinda need to do something like that this summer imo.

· Strootman (DM) from Marseille, free

· Martin (LB) from Mainz, free

· Thorsby (CM) from Union Berlin, loan

· Martinez (GK) from Leipzig, £3.5M.

Players 24 and Under

· Retegui (24): highly sought after Italian / Argentine striker bought for £12M from Tigres in Argentina.

· Dragusin (21): talented Romanian CB brought in from Juventus for £5.5M.

· Matturro (19): talented teenage Uruguyan CB bought for £3M from Defensor in Uruguay.

· DeWinter (21): talented young Belgian CB brought in on loan from Juventus.

Youth Team

Strengthened with numerous players from a variety of countries.


My point is that all this was done relatively cheaply and there is some decent names up there, certainly suited towards the Italian league (I'm not saying they would suit us btw) My point is that a cheap rebuild can be done, it comes down to the recruitment team and the DoF. Sadly I have little confidence in either.

Yeah something like that is the only way we can get the squad options. Agree with you is hard to trust the dof is a massive job this window
