Even if we just buy two decent midfielders (and probably a CB for Mina if we can) then that is already not that bad a team. People really are catastrophising a bit too much because we sold one player.

New CB (if Mina goes)

Forward who can play across the front

They don’t even need to cost that much money. Get those players right and we’ll be in a far better situation.

Need at least 3 in mid mate one if those a DM, one with goals in him and a creative one. Also need a RW as Gordon has to play on the left this season imo and Gray isn't good enough to start - if kept he's an impact sub. Also need someone who actually can provide proper backup to DCL

Someone said we should stop signing relegated players and that ‘we never learn’.

Honestly most of the relegated players we’ve signed recently have been some of our best.

Pickford - player of the season
Gueye - sold for around 300% profit after a few great seasons
Doucoure - not the fanciest but better than all our other CMs except a fit Allan
Godfrey - didn’t kick on as much as would’ve liked last season but still makes most peoples starting line ups

If anything we should sign more of them

And some of our worst have come from CL clubs - Gomes, Schneiderlin

Honestly most of the relegated players we’ve signed recently have been some of our best.

Gueye - sold for around 300% profit after a few great seasons
Doucoure - not the fanciest but better than all our other CMs except a fit Allan
Godfrey - didn’t kick on as much as would’ve liked last season but still makes most peoples starting line ups

If anything we should sign more of them

I think Doucoure and Godfrey are rubbish.

Dream would be Erickson on the right, Gallacher, Zinchenko in the centre and Broja as backup cf no idea on the dm though - still love Gueye back one season on loan.band KLP replacing gray.

So why did you gripe about me using euros? I was saying I could only find things saying he was 22m? Someone else posted something showing it was 17m initial, you could simply have just shown some evidence? Also, what are the add ons? We don't know. Still doesn't change the point: we overplayed for both.

So with the Richarlison money burning a hole in our pocket, we were eager to lash 20 mil on Winks and put him on a 5 year 80k a week deal. Bill and Farhad on the phone with Frank like “do you give this the go ahead yeah!?”

Frank’s like “I think so, but hang on a min”. And types “Harry winks… transfermarkt/whoscored” into his phone and has a quick read.

Then he’s like “No! Oh no! I read in The Athletic a few years back that he’s a baller. But looking at these very mediocre stats I don’t think this is one we should be going in for. Boys, call the deal off now!”.

If it was genuinely his decision to say no to the Winks deal then he’s gone up in my estimation.

Sad to lose Richy. But we’re still Everton. If we invest the money wisely we’ll be ok.

I mean, I think the point he's making is spending ~28m on two full backs isn't the "barely got 2 full-backs for £50m in January" you stated.

Really would have made much more sense to lose DCL than Richarlison if we really were in a financially bind.. DCL is almost completely pure profit.

I think a decision needs to be made on Dele.

If he was for sale from Spurs for £20 million this summer, would we buy him? That’s effectively the position. If we wouldn’t then we need to move him on.
