You did say it wasn't an endemic issue, I think our lack of player development is one of the main issues facing the club.
I don't think players who are at a stage where they deserve to be given chances and don't get them is an endemic issue at the club. That does not in any way equate to thinking there's nothing wrong with the youth set up.

I think it is more than youth set up personally, players don't get better here. I mean Richarlison came in as a 21 year old with a natural ability to score goals and find space in the box but with a very unrefined all around game. Now here we are years later and Richarlison is still a natural goal scorer who is a menace in the box but with a completely unrefined game the limits what he can actually do overall.

I don't think that's particularly complicated though to be honest. He's had 4 permanent managers who play in different ways and have shunted him round the pitch asking him to do different jobs. It's not some curse that stops players getting better, it's just common sense that they don't get better in an environment like we've had in recent years.

To get back on topic, if we put a proper plan in place so that players are identified to play specific roles in the team and are scouted properly so we're confident they can fit into what we're trying to do then there's no reason new signings can't develop here now. I wish I was confident it would happen, but i'm not really.

I quite like the year long transfer chatter, but this is even more meaningless than usual given we don't know what division Everton will be in next year. Think the only things we can realistically be confident anticipating is Rich leaving in the summer and Don heading back to United hence not becoming a perm.

And El Ghazi signing perm for 45million.

Linked with Loftus-Cheek again.

Dunno. Got to stop going for the dregs of the top 6 sides. It hasn't worked for us.

As a starting 11 player I agree however Loftus Cheeky is miles ahead of players like Slomes, Davies and Gbamin so I would take him as a squad player if the fee was low.

With the 5 sub rule we need to build a bench of half decent players rather than the current set up of a good starting 11 with a dog crap bench.

Whether its him or someone else, we are pretty much guaranteed to do such a signing for a ridiculous fee
