Ok.

How would signing a very injury prone 28yo be a good idea, especially as if he's in a free it means you are gonna pay him top wages

And how if he flops do you sell him to Italy, when they wouldn't sign him on a free? And you're already paying him more in wages then they would have.

Absolute stupidity
He’s injury prone? Is he really?

He’s always been prolific and been linked with loads of big moves in the past.

Unfortunately, if you want quality players, you have to pay them the right wages. Yeah we’d pay his wages, but could easily sell him for £15m if he flops. Looks like he’s signing for Roma anyways,

…I’m a DCL fan but as soon as he picked up that injury I suggested we should look to cash in whilst his stock was high (I said the same with James McCarthy before his succession of thigh injuries).

i’m not sure if there’ll be much interest in DCL at the moment & what our prospects of bringing a replacement in (not forgetting that will still leave us with Rondon as back-up). I like the PSG lad but we’ve not been linked.
Some variants here.....

A) it's not a real injury, just saving myself for the next club.
B) it's, as you base it, a recurrence of the quad injury
C) it's another injury/ knock not related to the quad problem
D) it's lampard trolling Chelsea's line -up.

All possible.....

Yeah, but we didn’t bring him in on a 2.5 year deal to do nothing with him, triggering the 10m was always going to happen and going out of our way to not do so would be false economy.
I know but he's been so poor In midfield for us that just hoping it would work with him as a striker could potentially be a bad risk

Yes.

It's also telling he's been unemployed for over a month now and no one has gone for him.

It's not a bad idea to see if he could play the role. I would just be concerned about triggering the clause to have to pay £10 million for him
The only way to avoid triggering the fee would be to have Alli just sit on the bench and never play, picking up the best part of £100k p/w for the privilege.

He's never a midfielder in a million years but he can finish... so why not try him out at CF? It's him or Rondon at this point.
