Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I am 99% certain that Georgian lad (I’m not typing his name again) has joined Napoli.

I could be wrong but I’m sure I saw it a few times on Twitter the other day.

I remember @Eggs and I were quite complimentary about his videos last year.

He seems to look a little 'slow' (or not quite quick enough) to play out wide...perhaps in the 10 role if Lampard accomodates Dele? They could rotate.

Another id forgotten about but this reminded me is Octavian Popescu the Romanian 19 year old winger who was linked last month.

Back to Kvaratskhelia though, as he plays for Ruben Kazan is it possible to actually buy him from them?

How would we conduct business and transfer funds to his club? Gbamin is also on loan in Russia of course, what happens if CSKA Moscow want to buy him ?

Any ideas?
Joining Napoli I think??

Id seen him linked but youre right! 5 year deal signed...

@bluestevon Seeing as Napoli have signed him...how did they do business with a Russian club and are we allowed to?

Juve are signing him now so they can flog him to PSG when Mbappe goes.

Should add half the loan fee from next year onto the deal

Oooof it's a strange one mate, basically foreign players under contract in Russia had the right to terminate their contract until 30.6 after that not sure what will happen I'm guessing it'll be ratified to being able to fully terminate it, Kvaratskhelia is Georgian.

Didn't realize Napoli had signed him goddamit

Yeah checked it up and he has mate, interesting like as no idea how you sign a player from a team he is currently not actually registered with due to the 30.6 date

I get that we need to build for the future, but we’ll have limited funds in the summer and, if the combined fee was somewhat correct, then they definitely shouldn’t be our first two signings.

Our recent form shouldn’t sway us from thinking the squad is utter crap and these two won’t come in and improve us straight away which we really need to do this summer.

It’s £40m that probably won’t even be available unless big sales happen anyway, but we’ll need to be a lot more shroud than this.

Guehi went to Swansea on loan last season and Palace signed him for £18-20mil last summer. He's now got an England cap.

Colwill is apparently more highly rated at Chelsea, 2 years younger and seems to be doing better at Huddersfield than Guehi performed in the championship.

If we could get him for a similar fee to Guehi went for then we'd have him and Branthwaite as long term centre backs.

With Patterson and Mykolenko in the full back areas thats a long term back 4.

If also enables us to move a couple of players on to generate further funds and lower the wage bill:

Colwill
Mina
Keane
Holgate
Branthwaite
Godfrey

If he was our first signing id be thrilled. if hes as good as Guehi we'll have a bargain and straight into the team.

As for Gilmour, it depends on whether Lampard wants to reunite with him. He shone at Chelsea under him and has huge potential.

Sitting between defence and midfield in the Delph role he could act as a deep lying playmaker. Only has a year on his contract and would probably ask to leave if Lampard was interested in him.

If Lampard wanted him then it would signal a move to a more posession based passing style next season and he would be the best passer at the club.

Perhaps £15mil for him.

I think both players would improve the first 11.

Its a bit of a complicated one for FFP and profit and sustainability calculations.

But without going into it all, as we've had a deal signed off with Juventus to loan him for 2 seasons and then buy him in 12months what it 'could' mean is:

1: The deal is brought forward 12months so our FFP P/S benefits immediately allowing us more money to spend.

2: With the loan fee disappearing the overall value of the deal may be a few mil lower (loan fee was 3mil a year).

3: As the 'obligation' to buy still had a clause on Juventus finishing in the champions league places next season we 'may' have had to count him as our player on the books for the FFP P/S calculations. So there could be some benefit to having the wages off the books as well.

Hopefully the fee is quickly agreed at £25-27.5mil as that would really help Thelwell move on targets as soon as safety is confirmed.
Sensible practical business to get this deal done now. Miss out on a few million on the loan fee but money in the door now is what we need. Invest sensibly in one or two high potential players and we could more than make up the shortfall as they increase in value.

He's been playing back in Georgia the past few months as they signed him btw when the fifa ruling went through

So any foreign player in Russia we simply 'tap up' via his agent. He terminates his contract before the end of June and then how does he physically leave Russia I wonder as theres a flight ban lol

Is Ukraine the same for local as well as foreign players do you know?

Because theres a couple of interesting domestic players in Ukraine who may like to reunite with Mykolenko.

I advocated a while back for a free signing fest, ideally hungry players who excel in weaker leagues like the championship and could make the step up.

Id be looking to take Swift and Brereton-Diaz on frees, and I’d have Tarkowski too. Those 3 would replace and improve our back up, if they were brought in to replace Gomes, Rondon and Keane for example. Cheaper wages overall too. I don’t know Grillitsch but have seen us linked and doubt he’d be any worse than we’ve currently got!

If Forest don’t come up and we stay up, would be very pleased with Johnson as he’s exactly the right kind of profile. I can see Frank going for Gilmour on loan which would be fine as it’s low risk. I believe between them, him and Thelwell will be able to spot plenty of good players. Just hope they’re allowed to do their jobs.

Exactly, if it was me id take that money and be straight on the phone to Chelsea to sign Colwill.

If we then sold 2 centre backs e.g Keane + 1 more we'd probably cover Colwill's fee as well plus save a lot in wages.

Gilmour wasnt listed on there but his contract expires next year so unlikely they would loan again unless he extended.

…I think it’s difficult to identify targets with a new manager and DoF.

If the DoF has come via a route from Wolves & USA, he might be used to working in specific markets. His track record might be more of a hint as to who we might sign (rather than players linked in the past).

Lampard will have his own targets. I’m a bit more concerned that he’s impressed with ‘busy’ players more than effective players but I suppose he got some decent loan deals for Derby. I did like the young CB he had on loan from Chelsea (Tomori?).

it’s a needle in a haystack nominating players, too many imponderables especially with uncertainty over our future & not knowing budgets etc.

The thing with Gilmour is, with 12 moths to go, and a good relationship with Lampard, he will be a lot cheaper, and a lot lower risk.
He looks a good player, but,, I'm not sure how robust he is, I'm just not sure he has the physicality to be worth a punt for us. Undoubtedly a decent player, but, I feel he would do better with better players around him than we can offer. Gallagher, on the other hand, could, I feel, walk into any team and impress, however, he is far to good for us, he would be too far too expensive and would aspire to a better team than our's.
