Morning all,
Just a few rumours and stories to mull over….
Everton are edging closer to completing the signing of
Conor Coady. The centre-back was left on the bench for Wolves’ 2022-23 Premier League opening-day defeat to Leeds United at the weekend
Sky Sports reports the Toffees will sign Coady on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
It’s also claimed that West Ham United have pursued the 29-year-old’s signature. The Hammers have already lost out to Everton in the race to sign
Amadou Onana. ?
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye has rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest amid interest
from Everton, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.
Writing via his
personal Twitter account on Sunday (7 August), the French journalist reported Everton are in pole position to re-sign their former midfielder, who’s turned down a three-year deal with Forest.
Conor Coady started an Everton medical on Sunday after Wolves accepted their bid, sources have told Football Insider.
The centre-back, 29, is expected to join on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

The Toffees want to bring another striker who can share the goalscoring load. Previously Chelsea duo of
Armando Broja and
Michy Batshuayi were strongly linked to the club, in fact, Lampard is still keen on Broja but the
interest in Batshuayi has tapered off.
According to
Get French Football News, Everton are mulling over signing Strasbourg striker
Ajorque, who has also been linked with Newcastle United this summer. Apart from English sides, there was Hertha Berlin who tried to sign the 28 year old, making a €10 million (£8.4 million) offer to the French side.
In response, Strasbourg had slapped a €15 million (£12.6 million) price tag on Ajorque. LOSC Lille also wanted to sign the striker but the Frenchman rejected a move to Paulo Fonseca’s side. Ajourque netted 12 goals in 36 Ligue 1 games last season and was one of the key reasons why Strasbourg finished sixth in the league.
Frank Lampard was keen to focus on a lot of positives after Everton's loss to Chelsea but did pinpoint some areas which needed to be worked on.
"It did please me. We'll get the balance right," he said. "At times we were a little bit direct when I didn't think we needed to be. When we played through the lines we played really well and we gave Chelsea problems.
"I want us to be progressive, we're not a Chelsea of having passes and passes and building like that. That's not our style and it's probably not the style the fans want to see. I'm very happy that we moved the ball quickly, but I think getting the balance of changing play and going longer at times with quality or playing through the lines - it's important for us.
"The lads are working hard on it and I think adding players in midfield - like Onana who can receive the ball, accept it and move through the lines - is a big deal. As a coach you know you need your players to go out on the pitch and implement what you want to do.
