With Dieng and Guirassy both being down the pecking order at their clubs I wonder if we are hoping to get both in on decent deals rather than put all our eggs in one basket. Dieng seems like the pacy, versatile forward type who could replace (to an extent) Richy, but doesn’t seem to be a prolific scorer, Guirassy more of the traditional DCL replacement.

I guess you compromise on quality compared to spending the total for both on one better player, but you get a better range of options esp with the 5 sub rule.

Hopefully this is the case… once DCL is back we could have 3 viable striking options & even Rondon too. Injuries to be expected, and lots of matches up until World Cup, so definitely could use that depth

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that signing those two would represent excellent business. The Marseilles fans love Dieng and many seem to think he is one of the best talents they have produced in a long time.

Though I wish we could push the boat out a little more and get someone of Terrier's quality.

Dieng would definitely be my choice from those linked from Ligue 1 over the past week (Terrier aside, who'd cost upwards of 25m).
Whilst he's not the archetypal target-man no.9 nor is he the finished product, he's got far greater upside with a comparatively small outlay relative to his talent.
Once DCL's back fit, he'd slot in nicely on the left as a wide forward, more of a like-for-like replacement for Richy if you may.
A few of my Marseillais mates are frustrated by the club's decision to move him on, and reckon they'd probably let us pay on the drip to get some funds through the door after they've made permanent four of their loans from last year
