We seemingly don't have enough money left to purchase any sort of striking option that Frank/Thelwell deem appropriate for the club

If selling Gordon was the only way of us progressing with striker deals - then i'd have to say that's a valid reason to let him go

but we don’t tho we will get a striker without selling gordon

McNeil, Gordon etc they’re not playing in the correct roles currently. It’s no surprise they aren’t playing their best. Give them time, we’ve got a young squad with bags of potential. Let’s get that striker this week & Gana

The squads actually not that young mate.

We have two young fullbacks - Gordon and Onana who can be deemed players with potential.

McNeil although still 22 (23 soonish) has played about 150 or so top flight games and most of those as a starter, yes way past the bags of potential stage, yes he could improve but his experience and age already suggest what he is now is not far off whst his ceiling level is.

The rest of the squad are 26-30 so effectively 'at their peak' most of whom are not good enough frankly.

Are Gray, Iwobi, Dacoure, Holgate, Godfrey, DCL etc suddenly going to become better - if so by small margins in reality.

Coming through the academy there's nothing that leaps out as anything out the ordinary, certainly no more so than st pretty much every other premiership team, and significantly less than at most I'd say.

The bsgs of potential furvthis team is effectively 4 players - Mykolenko who at 23 already may develop into a solid player (but that's kind of his ceiling level), Patterson who has great potential, Gordon same as Patterson and Onana who is the one who 'could' become very very good indeed.

That's pretty much only 3 players in the entire squad who may develop to become significantly better than they currently are.

23 is still young, look at Iwobi with Lampard, with the right attitude etc leaps can be made. Iwobi was a write off in most fans eyes, now he’s a fan favourite

Good morning all, here’s the rumours and stories doing the rounds on Sunday the 13th of August (a few of which seem to have been rehashed). A good day to all.


Everton have set their sights on signing Villarreal attacker Nicolas Jackson, sources from the club have told Football Insider. Goodison Park scouts have been keeping close tabs on the Senegal forward, 21, and interest has accelerated after his man-of-the-match display in his team’s La Liga opener against Real Valladolid.


According to French publication L’Equipe, the Toffees seem to be close to agreeing on a deal for Stade Rennais striker Serhou Guirassy. Frank Lampard has reportedly made the deal for the 26-year-old a priority following the long-term injury that Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered last week.


And according to BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher, Everton is the club that he is trying to join, with a deal likely to be finalised very shortly. He wrote on Twitter: “Everton a top striker away from a result today. Club working on Serhou Guirassy and hope to get over line ASAP."


According to 90min, Goncalo Ramos could be set to follow Darwin Nunez and move to the Premier League. Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have held talks with the forward over a move, whilst Crystal Palace, Leeds United, West Ham United and the Toffees are all monitoring the situation.

Co-writing in his latest piece for 90min, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that the Goodison Park outfit are just one of a number of clubs in the Premier League to have asked to be kept aware of Ramos’ availability


Marseille striker Bamba Dieng is not a priority for Everton, despite the club having held talks with his agent. That's according to French football paper L’Equipe, who say the Blues are working on other targets but continue to monitor the 22-year-old.


Brighton boss Graham Potter has admitted that Everton and Nottingham Forest target Neal Maupay is considering his future. Maupay is no longer guarenteed a first team place at the Amex stadium and could well seek a move away before the transfer window shuts.
