Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

If Gordon does go Gakpo feels like the most realistic big budget replacement we could achieve before the end of the window, especially with PSV not making CL. In which case our old friend Anwar could finally make himself useful.

Yeah Gakpo would very much be in the Onana mold of transfers, which makes that a very good shout. I don’t know too much about him outside of the fact that he’s been playing semi regularly for the Netherlands the last couple of years, who have quite a bit of competition in that spot.

Also we’d be negotiating with Brands directly, which could be a positive? I dunno depends how he left things with our board I suppose.

Why would we want to spend 40m euros on a player who has only played in the Eredivisie ?
Well it probably wouldn't work out that much, and tbh the days are gone when you might get a bargain from lesser leagues like Holland or Portugal - look at what Liverpool paid for Nunes and what United are offering for Antony. It's a risk of course but we would be getting the profile of player we need.

If we were selling Gordon it had to be this week, can we really replace him with four days? I can't see it unless Broja is part of the deal and we have players lined up

I suspect that’s our business done for this window.
Biggest positives are not selling Gordon and the Onana signing, the rest of the dealings are fairly average and the level you would expect given our financial constraints.
We desperately need to reduce our wage bill further and if you can’t pay top dollar you ain’t getting top talent.
I think we’ve got enough now to grind out enough points to be safe by Feb, all being well.
We still have two loans?

With Maupay in, odds are that we would insist on Gallagher for some goal threat from downtown. We're not getting that, because Chelsea's midfield is a M*A*S*H unit and he starts right now, so we would need to have a bunch of dominos ready to fall that we don't know about.

That's not impossible, since Maupay came out of nowhere, but the move is looking a lot less likely.
