Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I thought that with Tarkowski and Coady the other day. You dont have to buy loads of players. They always plays, so you need less players.

The other is, you start to get continuity. I'm not Holgates biggest fans, but he is starting to look better. I think having that continuity helps. If we can put the same back 3 out,.week after week, we will probably start to see further improvements.

I'm of the opinion that Holgate has been the most improved player since Lampard came in mate, Iwobi gets most people's nods for that but just how good Holgate has been the last few months of last and start of this season has gone almost unnoticed.

He seems to have gotten rid of his 'sloppyness' and losing concentration that plagued him.

Think the sub appearance v Chelsea.was the best pure cb performance I've seen from him also. Basically won everything from set pieces in our box all game

He's been the link that has excited me the most. Evertonians love a player that gets you off your seat, and we've had too few of those in recent years. James maybe briefly before his injury woes Del boy up until he started chugging for breaths. But other than that you go back to Rooney as a teenager and probably Kanchelskis.

I just think with him and Gordon we have genuine pace which is needed in this league mate - throw in Gray as well and that's three very fast players in attacking spots.

If we got in Kudos in loan with a permanent option and Garner - that's adding a further two young players on top of Onana, Patterson and Gordon who could really develop which to progress we need

1 minute.
6 minutes.
17 minutes

So far the first three games
Ah right.
Just enough to keep him interested then.
Not too dissimilar to the Gibson- White scenario then? so there is some hope.
Although it has to be said the time left to hammer out a deal is now already very tight.
If Gordon is still our player by Sunday I think that deal is dead for now.
I would still prefer to keep hold of Gordon anyway.

Also Myko, Vinegre, McNeil and Diaz if we buy him are all 23 or younger. Don't forget Branthwaite either who could still come through for us.

I said earlier in the window, we seem to be putting a young squad together under a hungry young manager. Very reminiscent of the early 80s. Probably getting past myself here but you know what I mean.

In fairness, we knew Holgate had it in him. We've seen fine spells from him before over the years and at one stage I think it was City came sniffing. But literally nobody saw Iwobi's transformation coming. Not a single person.

A huge element to being a good manager and it sounds simple but it's true, make players better, don't make them worse.

So far can't think of anyone whose regressed under Lampard but a few have noticably improved.

In a situation where you can't just buy and replace until it works perfect it's a massive key thing to do.

It's a Shane so far we haven't had the chance really to see if DCL would similarly see an improvement due to various injuries.

Loving how honest Lampard is with assessing stuff, no bs, yesterday he said McNeil will take time effectively not trying to obfuscate he's struggling atm, think that honesty translates itself to a player who will work harder from that

Big error today incoming :) but yes I prefer him to Godfrey and next to 2 experienced pros like Coady and Tarks will do him good

The window has been good so far. We need to remember where we are- we survived relegation by the skin of our teeth last season and have had to comply with P&L. We won’t be able to get the names some want.

Each player we’ve signed this summer improves the squad and I don’t think we’ve paid any bloated fees either.

The window could be a lot worse or a lot better depending on any final business but it’s been much better than I thought so far.

If we get Gana/Garner in (sounds like we want both) and another decent attacker (seems Broja is still a target) then I think we have to say Thelwell has had a pretty decent start to the job.

We are lacking a special creative talent. Very jealous of West Ham with that Brazilian lad they are signing
