Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

If what was said a couple of weeks back by Frank still rings true then we are only after 'cover' for Dom, not a marque signing, and also a midfielder, asume this to be Gana.

If so the club must see McNeil as Richy's replacement or feel that we have enough in Gordons progress, with Gray, Townsend and McNeil to have covered that loss.

Forward wise, if it is just cover then you'd assume that would be reflected in any transfer money to cover this. If there is haggling going on with Diaz and £15 million then it'd be easy to assume that the kitty for the forward cover is less than £15 million. That said, in saying this I am going down the 'transfer mystic' path as I have not got a clue what the club are planning, just feeding off the bits of info put out officially from the club as opposed to our desires and journo's clickbait.
I'd agree broadly, Frank has been quite clear about using the last domestic loan spot, and I'd expect that to be used + Gana as a minimum.

We may do more, but it won't be spectacular. That doesn't have to mean we can't gain though.

Even the link to someone like Pereira would suggest they are looking for a bit of guile and creativity, you won't get a 90-minute player with that on our budget, but for the last twenty minutes a loan somewhere would give us an option. Rogic was also linked on a free.

It all points to a potentially very busy day on Thursday. TDD rarely ever meets best expectations and we'll have gaps left unplugged on Friday for sure. I'd settle for Gana + another forward /wide forward but I think they'll try to do additional business around the fringes if they can.

Think Broja ship has long sailed.

Gueye
Garner
A wide forward/striker

Would be a good end to the window for me.

If Gordon was to go i'd want two in to replace him.

We need someone in up front of the stature of Richarlison.

We dont have the firepower up front to get safe as things stand.

We need a defensive midfielder of quality in too.

And we need desperately to keep Gordon, our only truly quality player who could get into any PL team.

It'll be bottom 4/5 all the way through this season without those ALL things happening.
I think Jaoa Pedro could be a decent shout.. works like Richarlison, skilful but needs to add a few goals.. similar to Richarlison when he joined. Get Gana in and that Kudus on free/loan and get us to mid table as we start the long journey back to anything resembling a cohesive unit that has a defined style of play.

My worry is the link to the Wolves guy this morning. Sounds like he no longer fits the mould there now they are playing more footy.. Thelwell and his 5 at the back though.. I think it has legs. Thelwell would have scouted him for the 5-2-3 formation Wolves used to play.. that’s our new system sadly. Horses for courses and all that.
