Every player you mentioned was an absolute standout at their club. Gana and Pickford were the same.Liverpool got Robertson from relegated Hull, Arsenal got Ramsdale from relegated Sheffield United, Spurs got Davies and Sessengnon from relegated clubs too. That’s just off the top of my head.
I can’t get my head around the fact that just because a whole club was collectively relegated that makes the individuals of that team crap. We had a worse defensive record than Burnley this season ffs, had we gone down do you think other clubs would’ve looked at Richie or Pickford and thought “oh they went down they must be crap”.
Had we been in for Collins, or even McNeil (to reiterate I do NOT want him) I’d understand a bit more because they stood out in their team. Even Cornet would give us that Deulofeu-esque element of unpredictable/frustrating raw talent.
Tarkowski, however, is a bog standard CB lump in a bottom half grock team. He suits the team down to the ground because he’s asked to do not much more than head the ball away and get in front of shots. He’s not quick and he doesn’t seem particularly comfortable on the ball.
