It looks (almost) certain Everton are going to sign James Tarkowski.

I've been trying to understand all the rules around FFP, how it can be negated etc. It seems that legally it could be very difficult for the Premier League to enforce any penalty against a club for what they would consider a breech of the rules. It's also very difficult to assess how much 'wiggle room' any one club would be able to create. It looks mostly an unenforceable system to the layman looking in.

Everton have posted about a 100 million in covid losses more than any other club.

That can only mean that they expected to sell quite a few players or a Richy last year except for Covid.

I suspect that the effect that the letters from Burnley and Leeds will have is that we will have to sell some big assets. If we don’t then the figures don’t stack up. I think there were rumours that DCL was sellable last year as they considered that he would be at peak price. I can sadly see Richy go this year but not DCL due to the season he’s had.

Tarkowski and resigning JJK make sense on that basis.

To be honest what's happened in Ukraine really muddies the FPP waters - as a lot if our sponsorship was Russian an based we could argue very convincingly that it should be offset due to circumstances out if our control same as with COVID
