I am the first to criticise the 343, but there is truth in what you say. Coady, Holgate and Patterson do all look effective in their positions in this system.

We're missing a couple of defenders and Doucoure in midfield. Otherwise we need a left sided centre back (Branthwaite next season) and a defensive midfielder.

Beyond those two players, with more games and experience together we'll be fine in those areas.

Up top Gordon, Kean and DCL moving brings in potentially £115mil to improve the forward line. Two of them next summer but we should move Gordon once Chelsea's next bid arrives.

I see 4 new players being needed (DM + 3 FW players + Branthwaite).

What I want to see as well are sales, starting with Gordon for this ridiculous fee.

Ideal last 10 days:

-Lock in Gueye
-Sign striker (proper back up)
-Sign wide-forward (replace Richie)
-Sign wide-forward (if we lose Gordon)
-Sign attacking midfielder (replace Dele) - can potentially do this in winter transfer window

-Gordon for £50m+
-Dele out on loan
-Gomes out on loan/perm
-Nkonkou loan

Would leave us with:

CBs: Tarkowski, Coady, Holgate, Godfrey, Mina
Full backs: Myko, Patterson, Coleman, Vinagre

Midfielders: Gueye, Iwobi, Allan, Doucoure, Onana, Davies & (new AM - Kudos?)

Wide forwards: Gray, McNeil, 2 x new (Terrier & ?)

Strikers: DCL, new (Broja) and Rondon

That's a squad of 23 outfield players and the numbers to play 5-2-3 or 4-3-3.

The first three of the signings we need are the absolute bare minimum we need before the window shuts. I think it is crucial we get a star wide-player, we are desperately missing this now that Richarlison gone.

Villa £20m Sarr bid accepted, Newcastle £25m Pedro bid accepted.

Two very decent players who would improve our attacking options no end.

Can anybody hand on heart say that keeping Anthony Gordon and sticking with our current options would be better than selling him for £50m and getting these two in to revamp the attack?

Obviously we've missed our chance through our typical dithering, but it would have been a no brainer. Could all have been taken care of last week.

Alas it's a final week rummage through the damaged items aisle again.

Goes without saying should have had a better back up than rondon 6 mths ago. Scratching round now with games already wasted. Pathetic. Even with dcl fit it’s not enough. Any decent team would have more than a reliance on a bloke made of weetabix.

Just not sure having a front 3 of new signings all from relegated teams is the play to be successful.

We're not aiming to be successful, unless staying up counts as that, as that's obviously the height of our ambition this season. Kudus, those two and DCL would be a fine set of attacking options. Plus the odd cameo from Gray like yesterday and I'm sure we could easily finish mid-table.

Sure as hell is better than what we have now.

Agreed it’s better but feel like it has a pretty low ceiling going forwards.

Couldn't agree more. But Pedro is young and looks like he has a lot of room to improve, and Sarr is a seasoned international who you'd hope would look even better in a better team. Still, moot point as they're off elsewhere.

Good luck with 2 weeks left with our shower
