Because he has to sign the contract?Sorry but how can Palace activate the release clause AND pay it but olise still needs to decide if he wants the move?

We should probably be signing a championship youngster who could conceivably be first team ready (so while Branthwaite is a good idea, a bit better) every year.Honestly if Olise is available for £8m and we haven't been in contact.
12 assists and 7 goal at just 19 years of age.

This can’t be right. The top football minds of GOT seem to suggest that the only person who has any say in global football transfers is Marcel Brands.Players get a say in where they move to you know? lol

But surly Palace wouldn't pay the fee before the player actually says if he wants the move?Players get a say in where they move to you know? lol
What I'm getting at is surly Palace haven't actually paid the fee as stated without the player actually saying if he wants to move or notWell the player doesn’t have to go anywhere. So if a Russian team payed the release, do you think he should go where he’s told.
Nothing at all mate. I often pay for stuff without actually knowing if I can have the item.Wtf is this

Thats exactly what I was getting at. The fact it stated Palace had already paid his release clause without the player agreeing to the move.….the player has to agree to move even if a club trigger the release clause. No monies are paid until all parties agree the move. They can’t be forced to go where they don’t want to go.

They probably have paid it, but if the player refuses to sign the money is returned. It’s possibly to make sure the issue is dealt with one way or another rather than left hanging around causing the player and club to be unsettled. The tweet did say it’s been paid. It’s probably just a mechanism to apply pressure on all parties to resolve.…i doubt it said they had ‘paid’ the figure. A player might have a £40m release clause, all that means is a buying club must declare they are content to meet that figure. No monies are paid at that point but they should be given permission to talk to the player.
I actually doubt if they have spoken to him in this case. That’s why they’ve paid the release clause - the selling club probably insisted on it to deter suitors. Palace hoping to convince him now and using the payment of the release clause to demonstrate how serious they are.Well they do normally speak to them before it’s paid. Maybe it’s just a poorly worded tweet.
