You think Benitez would of signed if we had
No money to spend?.
Lots of people keep saying this, but personally, I do yeah.

We obviously aren't poor but have a cashflow problem related to FFP (whatever's left of it) and PL compliance rules. I think Benitez is exactly the kind of manager we would hire if we had no money to spend. I reckon the promise would be along the lines of: year 1 we will give you as much as we can from cash generated from player sales. Year 2: if we are back on an even keel we will back you big time (whether it is meant or not).

Could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling.

Fair enough. But since they are an enormous club, £100m or no deal.

I reckon £80-100mil...if hed come off a good season i think wed ask £120mil.

In Spain you have to actually pay the release clause before you can discuss terms with the player and if terms can't be agreed the fee is refunded.

Of course , in practice this never happens because discussions have already taken place before the fee is paid between the player's agent and buying club.

The player is the one to pay the release clause in Spain to buy himself out of his contract.

Weve spent hundreds of millions in recent years

If we dont part with Richarlison then there'll be no signings ?

So you dont think Moshiri will back this manager ?

Funny way of thinking that.

Apologies I was just having some fun. Yes he will back him because the backlash will be something else if he appoints Rafael and does not give him money.

He's backed every other manager.
He will back this one.

As long as there is the money for his wages and his compensation, I'm sure he couldn't give less of a toss.

I worked it out the other day.

Weve spent £55mil a year net since Moshiri came in.

Yet he claims he wants us challenging around the top of the league.

Poppycock and an eyeopener.

He did sign a very highly rated youngster in Moise Kean and people have done nothing but moan about it.

well he has not been given much of a chance in the first team, but we have had him since Silva was manager, he didnt really impress when he did play, apart from the Newcastle game. He has had 2 managers since, one temporary, one permanent, neither seemed too enamored with him, now we have a new one, we shall see what happens. But he has had 37 appearances (many as sub) 4 goals and 2 assists.
I think the main thing people have pointed out is that he doesnt look like he is working hard in the games. I think fans will forgive forwards, if they are not scoring, but they are working hard. It also make you wonder if he maybe doesn't do it in training, or doesn't do whats asked of him on the pitch, which is why he was subbed on and subbed off against Man Utd. If he stays this season and doesn't work hard in training and doesnt do what Rafael says on the pitch, he wont play. Historically Rafael has been very structured in his approach and not afraid to sit players out, regardless of their price tag or profile.

Richarlison linked to madrid.

its pretty inevitable, give the Ancelotti link, no fee mentioned, but we should be after £80m to £90m. Do Madrid have that kind of money? I am not so sure, they may try and give us Bale and Isco and some cash over time.

Bale is retiring next year and Isco is fat - swerve those Iberian chancers

Spoke about this lid with some people on here. Will be a top top player great signing. Marcel WAKE TF UP MAN

This is why no one wants to buy our guff like Andre Gomes, because they can get a player as good or better and younger for less than half the price.

I said a few days ago that we would get linked with a load of Barca players, The echo have done it.

Basically saying that Bara need to trim the wage bill before they can add the players they have signed on free transfers, because they have exceeded their wage limit set by the league (Depay, Aguero, Garcia and Emerson)

So the Echo say we should sign, Couthino, Neto and Pjanic to join Digne, Mina and Gomes who we have signed from Barca in recent years. Not linked with Messi, which is disappointing, though after Messi's reaction to Yerri Mina missing a Pen for Columbia last night, maybe that would be awkward in the dressing room. lol ;)

You wonder if a loan of one of their 2 top Brazilian talents and maybe 1-2 of their squad players with a fee involved could be done. Maybe players like Blanco, Arribas, Kubo, Fran Garcia or even Reinier.

A mixture of a couple of those players and one of the Brazilians on loan and potentially 20-40 million might work. It's the sort of deal that would work very well for FFP as well.
