All those pining for us to do business the Leicester way: We literally nicked the man supposedly behind their title-winning model and managed to catastrophically goose up. There needs to be a clear strategy that isn't just "copy the other lot".

The issue is that we were grossly inept in emulating their approach. We recruited their head scout and attempted to utilize him in a different capacity where he was grossly unqualified and out of his depth. We should of poached their actual DOF or still brought in Walsh as a head scout then employed a legit DOF in conjunction.

It’s all on the set up/infrastructure. A Good scouting network, competent people, people with foresight along with it. I don’t think we have that, as others have said it’s more like a social club

Good points. It seems that the scouting network on the Continent is very weak. With the exception of Digne, I was having trouble thinking of recent good buys from there. Couldn’t think of anyone beyond Pienaar and Fellaini

Yeah exactly. If it were as easy as copying what the good guys are doing then every club would have flawless transfer records. If the underlying setup isn't right or isn't compatible with a better model, it'd do us more harm than good trying to copycat.

I do recall a cull of our scouting department a while back, can't say I remember any significant movements regards replacements.
I don't exactly have huge faith in our recruitment right now but surely we're not that blind?
