Why sell either? Or why not sell Holgate? And how easy will it be to shift Mina on 120k p/w?

Totally true, especially around Holgate who has just stopped development wise.

But it’s all down to saleable assets, especially as it looks like Kean is staying ( which I am happy about) and contract length, do you give another contract as per Keane or do you get the best price for someone who has 2 years left and on a sizeable wedge

Yes some interesting names added in there to be fair, although I'm not sure how many have played 50 league games for said team (which I see as a bit of a litmus test).

I think it's broadly similar over long periods, but we have made a bit of a mess over the last 5 years or so. I would also say if you are counting Bellerin, you should probably have to count Stones, Holgate, DCL etc who would likely be sold for 150m+ ish combined (hence why I avoided lads bought in as late teenagers).

I think the loan thing is a big of a misnomer. For a starting point most of the lads above went on loan and didn't progress. We don't have the brand or the quality of team to end up enticing teams to want to take players on loan in the way they do. We are not CL regulars. Our solution has to be that we are braver in giving opportunities to players in our 1st team, and not having them on the loan conveyor belt. Partly as it will help them get loans, but also could they do better than what we have. Are we going to be brave enough to give game time to Gordon and Brainthwaite this season for example? Maybe even Lewis Gibson. I'm not a big fan of Simms but there's probably a case for him too.

That is what German, Dutch, French, Italian etc teams are offering to younger players. A chance to play regularly, for a team where you have a 3-4 year contract. To me that has to start becoming the mindset. We loaned out most of the Ledson age group and it didn't work out well (albeit they got a fee for Robinson too).

I am still not sure why certain young players were not on the bench for fixtures last season, that felt a mistake to me when the spots were left empty.
I agree with your whole give young players opportunity thing but we cant just do it for the sake of it if they arent good enough.
They need to of been given the correct coaching, mentaly & physically to survive first team enviroments......i dont think that has happened.
I dont know to much about under 16s and below, but the under 18s and under 23s are a mess.

By the way i included bellerin because he went to arsenal at 15.
DCL, Stones & Holgate all moved to us after there 18th birthday and after a few months all got fastracked to the first team (maybe a sign the experience/coaching elsewere prepared them for something better than our u23s)

Any specific positions? Which players don't want to be here? Which ones are we looking to sell?

People expecting the likes of Keane, Iwobi, Sigurdsson etc to be sold are going to be very disappointed.

We know we're signing Dumfries, the other position is right wing and centre back.

Rafael wants to utilise the players we already have, so we will likely see a few unfamiliar faces in the squad this season.

It depends which players go as to who else comes in.

Breaking News:

Everton to sell players they don’t want and replace with players they do want

Cheers @Theoneandonly we can all sleep better tonight
Breaking news: i heard @Theoneandonly is actually Rafael's 15 year old next door neighbour overhearing him being on the phone in the garden to
-Rondon (you coming back for sure mate, before Rondon calling back he is not coming),
-Nunes (no deal anymore mate i buy Shelvey instead),
-Countinho (i sign you as soon i have got rid of the lazy Columbian)
-Perez (I will tell the lazy Dutchman to get a deal on the table for you)

:)

Only seen Lenglet play a few times but every time I have he hasn’t looked great. Still, he beat off some very good centrebacks to make the France euros squad so he must have something about him.

Really? Thought you said earlier that we hadn't even talked to the player yet?

and you are still humping the old Nunes rumour, a central midfield, who we know isn't coming

Up your game Keith, you need to at least get something right at some point.

What changed the thinking from early July?
Why do we need a RB? We have Coleman and Kenny.

Why do we need a CM? We have Gbamin, Doucoure, Allan, Gomes, Davies, Delph, Baningime.

Why do we need a CB? We have Mina, Godfrey, Keane, Holgate and Branthwaite.

RW I agree with and a replacement for James/Richarlison.
