Everton Summer transfers 2021

Asmir Begovic to Everton according to Fabrizio Romano

Starting to think that this club is seriously beyond repair.

Can guarantee if we are signing an ancient keeper who can't kick or even save, we are doing so because we can't afford the wages of Romero etc.

The quality of player we have been linked with this summer (bar Dumfries and the potential of Nunes) has been absolute dross. We certainly seem to be in something of a recruitment spiral.

I seen nothing from Bolasie at Everton to say he was exciting. Lad literally used to pelt it down the touchline and welly a cross in that often went out for an opposition throw in.

Was nothing like the player he was at Palace who even then wasn't great except the games against us and Liverpool.

Oh come on the lad had 1 goal and 4 assists in 14 games for us when he first came. He should of had alot more assists as well if Barkley and rom had hadnt of missed siters that he put on the plate for him.

In hindsight it was a bad transfer because of his injury and at the time it was a bit of a mad transfer that can't be argued (If I remember correctly he was our backup option to aurnoutovic wasnt he?) But he was decent for us for those 14 games and I think if he hadnt of had those injuries he would of been a good player for us.

I'm not saying he would of been amazing or anything but I think he would of been good. Just that injury at his age for the type of player that he was ended him as a player really.

He was always a very instinctive player who relied on pace to overcome any trouble his lack of forward thinking got him into. When he came back you could see he was scared to go flat out on the pitch and was second guessing himself. He essentially became a race horse with a broken leg.

Thats my opinion on him anyway. Sorry for the rambling I've just had a fat hit of pre workout and I am flying!

May as well believe in Santa if you think Brands is doing much. Been talking to Dumfries longer than a virgin on Tinder and are close to signing some 16 year old for the academy.

Yawn.

Most clubs have hardly done anything yet. The majority of deals completed have been frees - and we're one of 6 clubs not to have brought anyone in - including Man City and Chelsea.
The market is slow at this point and It's the same whenever there's a major tournament going on.
For someone like Dumfries, no player in his right mind, before into a major tournament, would commit to signing for a new team or agree a contract - because there's huge hay to be made by performing well at the tournament and getting more clubs interested. Once the tournament is over, there's options to assess - plus most players would go straight on holiday.

Also - increasingly - I think the transfer market is like the housing market. You know the house you want to buy and the price you want to pay - but you can't just do it overnight because someone above you in the chain is waiting for their purchase of their next house to go through - or someone below you in the chain is delayed in buying your property from you.

Players/clubs get stuck in "chains" (or in football parlance, "merrygorounds". Often clubs won't release Player X until they've sorted out signing Player Y.

Or - conversely, they can't buy Player Y until they've raised the funds from signing Player X.

Or - Player X won't sign for Club Y until he knows that Club X or Z - who he's really hoping to join - isn't going to bid.

It's just not a simple as us going out and buying who we want as soon as we want. There's all sorts going on that will be delaying us - it doesn't mean nothing's happening. People use this stick to beat Everton every single season - pre Brands and now.

The one summer we did it all really quickly and got loads of players in early was Moshiri's first one, where we paid over the odds for a pile of average players and it went horribly wrong for several of them.

I'd rather we take out time and get it right, thank you very much.

You're saying it's fine that we haven't strengthened because the PL Champions and Champions League winners haven't strengthened.

We finished tenth; we desperately need to strengthen.
