Do you think that happens every single year? Honestly?
I mean actually "desperately needed" - ie if we don't have that player we simply don't have players to cover the position?
There's deffo been some examples where we're left ourselves a bit short - granted. But rarely - if ever - do we go through a window where we actually don't make a signing at all in a position we need a player in.
Thing is - what will happen next is we'll make signings and the "bedwetters" will move on from complaining at no signings, and start complaining that the signings we've made are not the ones they wanted.
Then they'll moan that we shouldn't have been forking out for expensive first team players who they don't like, Brands should have been signing "young unheard of gems"
Then we'll sign some young players, and the bedwetters will move on to moaning that we've signed too many inexperienced players when we really needed first team ready stuff.
It's like clockwork - nothing is ever good enough. Everything is always terrible. Brands is always letting everyone down. Everton are a total mess etc etc etc. Fact is, whatever the club do, people find a reason to hate it and moan about it.
It's not that black and white. Some stuff Brands has done has been really good. Some stuff he's done has been really rubbish. That's the same with most DoFs/managers to be honest. Signing players is risky. And you don't always get what you want.
But to be panicking in mid July is a bit much.
Issues which should really have been addressed already by the director of football you mean ?It’s going to be another year where we don’t address the obvious issues isn’t it
We did require an entire right side about 3 years ago.Do you think that happens every single year? Honestly?

The thing is, this is all correct. The club is inarguably a complete mess.

And that’s not me bed wetting, it’s me saying that it’s his actual job like and it’s been obvious for ages what we need.
There's no way this window ends with us anything but short of the quality we all want the squad to have. We simply have to sign too many players to fix that. Which is why we need to commit to a longer term plan for building the squad.Every single year we get posts like this telling everyone to stop bedwetting because no one else has made any signings either, relax guys the club know what they’re doing. And then every single year without fail we start the season short of about 4 players we desperately needed and the bedwetters get proven right.

Key word is commit. Letting Carlo come in and sign Allan and James is not committing. That was the idea behind appointing Brands 3 years ago. How long is long term? We’re 3 years down the line and we’ve gone backwards. I think we’re sailing dangerously close to the wind myself.

I wouldn't expect it to be but we will see what the business looks like. Maybe he's going to start signing 23 year olds and developing them into a long term vision. Also bringing in Rafael Benitez isn’t committing either is it?
It's so bad. This squad is probably more bloated than any other in the PL.The thing is, this is all correct. The club is inarguably a complete mess.
We signed Walcott in 2018.We did require an entire right side about 3 years ago.
The squad, without a doubt, is a big mess. Which is another reason why moaning that we've not signed everyone yet is a bit silly. It's quite clear we need to remove deadwood and not just add bodies. The thing is, this is all correct. The club is inarguably a complete mess.
arguably not actually. Also bringing in Rafael Benitez isn’t committing either is it?
