No mate, it would be a poor signing. Iwobi and Gylfi are unlikely to be going anywhere, their contracts are water tight either by longevity and or on career appex contracts. Bernard we might shift.
Townsend is a Burnley or Palace signing. Its an extention of more Bolaise and Walcott, both of whom bleed the club dry and were shunted of on loan due to being nothing only waste. If you buy bad you buy twice and ultimately you loose money.
It cant be spun in anyway that Towensend could in anyway improve us. We dont need back up players, we need quality first team players.

Well i wouldnt want him in addition. It would be if were selling Iwobi, Bernard and Sigurdsson.
In the attacking positions, if were playing 4231 then:
Left: Richarlison / Gordon
Centre: James / ???
Right: ??? / Townsend
Forward: DCL / Kean
Sell: Tosun, Bernard, Sigurdsson, Iwobi.
If we could bring in a young backup for James and a player like Antony from Ajax on the right then for me it makes sense.
Fast forward to next summer and we then add in another attacker or two to upgrade again.

I reckon at least two of those are better than Townsend in all seriousness.
We shouldnt be going after him at all, i dont think we could sell Iwobi or Gylfi, i dont see much of a market for either, Gylfi is on a free next year and is on a career appex contrct 0, motivation for him to move or Iwobi for that matter who is here for years more. Tosun maybe, if someone offered him a five year deal, elsewise hes here for the final year and leave on a Bosman hes on a careeer apex contract to - also known as fighting for his place.
The whole of the flanks need improving we need a left back, left winger and right back and right winger, possibly two if Jamo goes. They need to improve the squad, in no way does Townsend do that, even a bit part back up. We need to player trade, Kenny, Bernard, Walcott, Boalsie squad positions. The ones who fill the gap have to be better then what we have lost.
Personally i think we need an alternate for DCL, id go Ings myself, right deal, right age, right time, would improve us.
