Gray was playing in the Premier League 2 (the reserves) last season, whilst Townsend started nearly every game and got five assists.

I believe Gray was frozen out after running his contract down at Leicester. I'd say he's still young enough to be a decent punt.

Townsend, on the other hand, is another 30-year-old teenager who never moved beyond being a prospect.

We finished top half last year with our wide options being Bernard Iwobi Coleman and then King. They were so bad that most of the time we didn’t even bother with wingers.

Benitez doesn't really play with wingers either which is why I take these rumours with a pinch of salt.

If I remember correctly, Carlo had a substitute bench filled with teenagers and two keepers, a very crap, weak, bench in essence. You’d hope these wingers would at least greatly improve our wank bench, and if we are getting rid of Bernard there will be no additional net cost.
