It doesn't get the pulse rating but, since the departures were no big deal and the 2 players transferred out nothing to get upset about there is at least the vague hope that these 3 arrivals are something of an upgrade. I suspect Demarai Gray just didn't enjoy his time in isolation (probably in a hotel) in Germany. Doesn't mean he can't recapture his Leicester best. Townsend is decent and Begovic a fair back-up. Nothing flashy so far but at least a little bit positive.

So, you can only be a good signing if loads of clubs were after you at the same time? Someone best tell Utd that Rooney wasn't a good signing for them because they were the only club in for him.

only On my way! Club went for rooney because he was one of if not the beat young players in the world .. also his agent had already engineered the move and it would have been pretty common knowledge that he wouldn’t go anywhere else . The only club I can ever think of that was stupid enough to try and bid for player that would never consider them is us when we tried to sign shearer . Gray was available for basically free , on low wages and was unhappy where he was and wanted to come back home … he would have signed for nearly any premiere league team if they has shown interest .

Pretty sure Watson played up front under Walter Smith but never started any games up front when we finished top 4 under Moyes.

At the moment we can't afford him, he's being offered out elsewhere. Inter have a big interest in him and are moving along nicely in negotiations.

No more news from where we were.

Working on shifting players rather than bringing them in.

In all honesty, I can see us going in to the new season with a new backup striker and nothing else the way things are going. But on the plus side we could yet keep Richarlison, James and Mina.

I'd accept that + signings already made without selling any of the South American contingent.

Surely we would have room for a few loans on deadline day at the least if it comes to it.
