Everton Summer transfers 2021

The problem is we massively overpaid for him.

We'd probably be able to sell him for £10-15m to somebody, but there's not a chance we'd be willing to take that sort of loss.

So we're stuck with a useless player sucking wages out of the club - again.

I'm not convinced there'd be any teams willing to pay for him mate. They'd have seen his performances over the past two years and there's been no encouragement whatsoever.

I see a free transfer in a few years unless something drastic changes.

Agreed. There is no chance we are selling Iwobi. He'll leave on a free, albeit I guess we gave him a five year deal or something stupid.

[Edit] of course we did.

Good on both accounts. Neither want to play for us. We know Inter have money with Rom going so get the most we can and kick start our recruitment
Inter are having to sell Lukaku because they have no money - it's a debt clearing exercise. It's the reason Conte left having won Serie A. it's the reason the didn't offer Hakimi a new deal.

Yes he had his injuries but they were mainly in 2015 - 17. He has played 91 PL games and 9 cup games in the last 3 seasons. I would be happy with that number of games played. As Villa play one up front he won't be needed to play all 38 games each season. There is no question it is a risk buying Ings but that is reflected in the reported 25m fee
The issues have always been when he doesn’t have a run of games. Playing one up top and rotating him, could be a bad thing. I’m glad we didn’t look into this one personally.

He'd have taken us down spending £300M when he had us 5th, 11th and 11th with a net spend over those 3 seasons of £47M?

Are you sure?
He was taking us backwards. No doubt his first season, I thought we played the best football in the league. Sunderland game cost us top 4. After that we went backwards, and quick.

Once again the lad is 21and no its not pointless to state that the position of saying the lad only scores against crap opposition is a nonsense statement a goal is a goal no matter who against. Was lineker poor because he only scored goals in the six yard box obviously not. He's shown every sign he doesn't want to be here? Lets see if you had just been playing in a team that has neymar, mbappe etc in it and you come back to a team with davies, iwobi etc which team would you fancy? No manager at Everton who has had him has given him a fair chance (maybe he is crap) but those managers have hardly covered themselves in glory without him in their teams including Ancelotti, plus the new manager at PSG was, according to reports, close to being sacked after 6 months so who knows. I'd just like to see him given a fair chance before we consign him to the scrap heap.
Why are you quoting proven scorers again. You're talking crap by doing that and its completely irrelevant as you are comparing those who have and those who havent but might. I dont dislike him but havent been anywhere near as impressed as some who massively overhype him.
The point is PSG had no interest in stumping up hard cash for someone who slotted against your nimes and dijons but was anonymous against the lilles and lyons.
He has an oppprtunity now here that he should grab with both hands. Dropping the im to good for Everton attitude thats come over from him would be a good start. As quite clearly lad nobody else thinks you are.
Lets see. We could do with him coming good.

Who did Kean score against in the champions league?

Hard to tell what to do with Iwobi. Do we just accept that we've been sold a dud and keep him as a squad player and kiss goodbye to be millions in both his valuation and his salary year by year until we can release him or perhaps loan him out in the hope that he might rekindle something that would allow us to claw some money back in a year's time. Dreamland would be somebody buys him this window but I would wager that the only club stupid enough to do that is us.

What a monstrously awful signing though, right up there with anything the Walsh and Koeman axis of evil brought here.

I watched that game against barca. Koemans barca were all over the place. Im not hanging onto that single goal as proof.
I think he's a good finisher. Or could be.
But he needs to knuckle down now at Everton. And PLAY for Everton.

You don't seem to be able to grasp the point that I'm attempting to make that it doesn't matter who you score your goals against nor how you score them it only matters that you score them. How hard is it to understand that premise. It is irrelevant that he scored goals against "lower" opposition he scored goals end of so is a poor way of trying to say the lads poor cos he only scored against poor opposition. I don't care who they were against i care that he scored is the point I'm making. To try and illustrate it again does anybody look at kane, lineker, Lukaku etc and analyse who the opposition was that they scored against? Answer no, so we shouldn't do that with this lad. Personally if he started next season and scored 25 goals against the bottom 8 teams and earned us 48 points I couldn't give a monkeys that they were all against the bottom 8 and neither should anybody else unless they have an agenda and have already made their minds up about him.

I think him putting the b team out against palace was what cost us top 4. Completely killed our momentum.

I fully grasp it. It DOES matter. Thats why strikers reach different levels. Some strikers have been proficient in lower leagues but never made the grade at a higher level.
We're not going to agree.
