Exactly - people look solely at transfer fees and not the book value.

For example - selling DCL for £60 million would give us more wiggle room to sign players than selling Richarlison for £75 million because we only paid £1.5 million for DCL whereas we paid £40-50 million for Richy so his book value even now would be higher than DCL's.

It's early days but I think we've got a star in Branthwaite potentially. Selling Holgate and promoting Branthwaite would potentially be a big win.

Having said that, Holgate's best role is on the right of a back three, which is where I expect Brighton would use him as that's where White played for them. I actually think he'd do pretty well for them as think he'd be more suited to their style than in a pair for the way we play

As @Stephenlloyd says, Mina only has 2 years left on his deal. In a years time his value will have substantially decreased and in the following January he could sign a pre-contract agreement elsewhere.

Selling Holgate and Mina would leave us only needing 1 centre back with Godfrey, Keane and Branthwaite in the squad.

If we could being in circa 40mil in fees for Holgate and Mina combined then that would be quite smart business.

We would still have players like Kenny, James, Gomes and Kean rumoured to be for sale who could all bring in fees.

With alot of luck and some good (cough) negotiating there could be a sizeable amount in sales this window.

To throw some numbers out there:

Mina + Holgate £40mil
Kean £35mil
Gomes £10mil
Kenny £5mil
James £10mil

= £100mil.
