We need to stop this "top player" crap anyway. The only "top players" we could ever attract were at the tail end of their careers and after a retirement pay day. We need to take a Dortmund/Leipzig/Lille approach of buying up promising players in their teens or very early twenties before they become "top players". To do that though you need managers and owners that will trust young players, so that's us screwed.

It's been a depressing window so far. Our scouting set up must face serious questions. Not even cheap punts on young up and coming players as yet.

However, I really like Rondon as a player. He's an all round centre forward, vastly underated, mainly by those who have barely seen him play and judge purely on stats. He's outstanding at holding the ball up, linking midfield and attack and an extremely clever forward. He's absolutely miles ahead of Tosun and the Everton version of Kean. He'd be good business on a free for 2 years.

This club man, it's ok saying we aren't able to buy until we sell but adding more dross won't help. Rondon is awful if we sell Kean we get someone better not someone who will be a deadweight on our wage bill in very short order.

He scored 1 in 4 for WBA and 1 in 3 for Newcastle both sides who dont have quality players like Digne whipping in pearlers for him to get on the end of.

He's more than good enough to cover DCL on the bench with our financial situation but people will fume because we aint spending £50 million on a CL calibre forward to sit on our bench when we cant even afford to bring in a RB.

I`d rather give Ellis Simms a chance than forking out on Salomon Rondon wages which is going to be multiples of what Ellis earns!!!

There’s no strategy there, it’s just managers picking players they’ve worked with before or like. People on here blame Brands for all the recruitment issues, it seems to me he’s got very limited sway on any targets judging by what’s coming in.
