Man City get about £60m a year more in revenue a year through Champions League!
They are set up to sell players they loan out for decent fee's (Harrison, Nmecha, Angelino this year)
Another 30m or so a year for finishing high in the league and not 10th
A signing such as Grealish doesn't equate to £100m in FFP rules, its over the length of his contract, so about £16m a year
They have also just got £250k a week of the wage bill in Aguero

i'm not saying it is right, but FFP has always been set up for these teams to prosper and keep a closed shop!

Also we had our opportunity 4 years ago when we spent ridiculous money like £45million on 28 year olds etc! Infact £200m we spent in 17/18.....in terms of football inflation that's probably about £350million now! We also spent about £100million the following 2 summers, all these players wages add up!
We had our opportunity and we are paying for it now!

Since we came into money we have sold 3 players at a profit, one was Gueye, the other 2 were Lookman & Vlasic, which was only about £3million profit.
Its not sustainable, we flew to close to the sun and got our wings burned
Depressing...but thanks.

This RB situation stinks of two summers ago when we had no plan B for Zaha after chasing him all summer and ended up panic buying Iwobi for £30 mill. You'd have thought lessons would have been learnt
I guess you could say they have as we appear to be after a 3m panic buy... Not exactly the lesson we were after, but i guess an improvement

There will always be pros and cons to each purchase. We've signed players that are "proven" at top flight level for big money, who have performed as if they came from the Vanarama National, and - albeit not for a while, unless you count Nkounkou's flashes of excellence - we've brought in some unknown/washed up/cheap players who have been great.

The situation at the moment dictates that we have to take risks on cheaper/unknown players. IF Brands is anywhere near as good as he was supposed to be, this is where he'll shine. If we sign 3-4 players at an average of £5m each and only one turns out to be a regular first XI starter, that is still a far better run rate than we've achieved in recent years!!
I've nothing against taking punts on unknown. I was excited as hell with Nkounkou last year and was disappointed when he stopped getting game time.

But I'd prefer my our punts to be 2/3 years younger and ideally from a better league.
Id get him and never play him just to stop him rocking up somewhere else and ducking under every header whenever he plays the RS.
Benitez would probably make him captain against them.
