Everton Summer transfers 2021

To quote The Athletic:
"Equally, the right deal can also be worth its weight in gold for FFP. With fees spread out in accounting terms over the full period of a contract, a saving of, say, £4 million could be reinvested into the signing of a £20 million player on a five-year deal."
Not saying this is wrong as I don't really understand accounting that well, but if we were to account for 4m a year over 5 years, wouldn't that mean we have 4m less to spend next year and each subsequent year of the contract?

Yes but you only look back 3 years at a time for PL sustainability rules. So our big losses could be out of the equation by the end of a 4 or 5 year deal.

We also have millions of wages that will be saved when players leave at the end of their contracts next summer. So in theory, a £4m hit to the accounts each year could very easily be offset, and more, by a reduction in wages, or potentially increased revenues if we can find more income.

Delph, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Holgate...

Too much?

Keane, Gomes, Kenny Iwobi, Delph would be ideal.

Winter window Tosun.

We have to sell to buy.

So any rumours of us signing players is on hold until James, Delph, Gomes, Kenny, Kean or any other dross is shipped off.

This £4m could be transfer fee or wage saving.

One out will mean more in, I think once PSG decided against Kean, our transfer plan was goosed but with still 15 days to go (31st August 23:00) we will hopefully see more ins and outs.

Ive been saying this for months...

Good morning all, the usual transfer links for Monday the 16th of August. Some slightly more believable than others whilst quite a few are rehashed nonsense.

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has reportedly snubbed an offer from Everton and will instead move back to Brazil.

According to Brazilian media outlet TNT Sports‘ journalist Fred Caldeira, Pereira has decided to move to Flamengo instead of the Blues.

The report goes on to claim that the Brazilian believes that a move to his native country could help him realise his dreams of representing his national side.

Caldeira wrote: “Andreas Pereira decides on Flamengo’s proposal. The agreement still depends on an agreement between the club and Manchester United.”

Everton are in advanced talks with Royal Antwerp to sign defender Aurelio Buta, Sport Italia journalist Rudy Galetti claims.

The Toffees have been searching for a new right-back this summer to provide competition and cover for club-captain Seamus Coleman.

Everton are planning to make a move for Schalke’s rising talent Matthew Hoppe this summer. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the Toffee will bid for the ‘striking sensation’ in the next few days. Everton have already collected necessary information for Hoppe, and they have been in contact to sign him.

Everton have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Matheus Nunes. The Blues have been linked with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder throughout the summer, and the latest report could help them. According to Record, via Sport Witness, Sporting would rather sell Nunes than fellow midfielder Joao Palhinha, who has been linked with Tottenham.

Reported Everton target Philippe Coutinho was left out of the Barcelona match-day squad by Ronald Koeman last night. Fichajes reported back in July that the Spaniard has personally asked Farhad Moshiri to sign Coutinho this summer.
Reported Everton target Philippe Coutinho was left out of the Barcelona match-day squad by Ronald Koeman last night. Fichajes reported back in July that the Spaniard has personally asked Farhad Moshiri to sign Coutinho this summer.

The Sunday Mirror (print edition August 15th) claimed that Barcelona are desperate to get rid of Coutinho. The La Liga giants are willing to loan him out to any club in the Premier League and pay 40 per cent of his wages

Everton have reportedly made contact over the possibility of signing Lorenzo Insigne this summer.

According to Italian news outlet Il Mattino, via Sport Witness, the Blues have contacted Insigne’s agent over a possible deal to bring the player to Goodison Park. The report goes on to say that while Everton and Napoli have held talks over Insigne, no offers has been made and there is the belief that the Serie A club’s asking price would be too steep for the Blues.

Forza Italian Football editor Conor Clancy via thisisfutbol rehashes some stories regarding Napoli defender Koulibaly.

Koulibaly's links to Everton date back to 2016 but rumours this summer suggest the club has reignited their interest following the appointment of Benitez as manager.

But, Italian football expert Conor Clancy revealed the player could still depart before the transfer deadline: “I think he’s probably reached the point now where he might be more open to a move than he was before.

“Napoli were title contenders, but they’re not now. They’re a long way from that.”

Sad to see some of this Summer's new ITK's have drifted back into the fog of time to confirm or repudiate these.

I think it is really to do with how the payments are structured. I doubt many clubs will accept payments spread over five years. The money out the door in the financial year must affect the profit / loss account. So if they accept 50% this year and 50% next year, the 10m per year has to exist.

We may spread the devaluation of the player across the length of the contract, but that is a different issue.
