Everton Summer transfers 2021

I expect the same was said when we signed DCL
Yep. Not gonna lie I was one of the ones super critical of him. Told people I didn’t even think he was a footballer never mind a premier league player a couple years ago. Completely proven me wrong. I’m sound with cheap fees and wages investments as some do work out very well, stones and Calvert cost a combined 5 mill and will make the club 100 mill plus profit.

How are you feeling about this dramatic change now, and how do you feel about how the club are communicating to the fans?
In my opinion, there is a lot that the club is hiding, if we are one year in for 3-4 players - though we didn't spend that much on James, Allan, Doucoure and Godfrey - and then suddenly the best we can hope for is a couple of loans and cheap signings, just like in the worst transfer windows of the Moyes years.

It's always exciting to get new signings, and that Koeman summer window was ridiculous, but I always used to think it would be nice if coaching and improving our players was also part of the agenda. It looks like Benitez is good at that, and I hope we can actually improve what we have here, but we're still short of a better CB, an alternative to Allan and Doucoure, and a replacement for James-Siggy-Gomes. We're also heavily reliant on Richy and DCL.
Overall its pretty clear that we are in deep **** with our finances, but nobody's saying anything about it. It would be nice if Brands said 'This year we have to do this, and build the team in this way'... and it would be nice if we actually had some clarity on James and others.

Bracewell was a sweet passer of the ball.

…he was. Those DMs were not only brilliant at breaking the opposition down and winning the ball, they were great at keeping possession with accurate passing. The goal and creativity threat generally came from wide positions and forwards (not forgetting the goal contribution of John Hurst and Derek Mountfield).

Was Bracewell much stronger or faster than say Gomes or Davies? Just goes to show that quality and style can definitely help you make it in physical, aggressive league like here, cos you have more time and space if you have that vision and quick mind too.

Perhaps Barkley will never succeed as a midfielder because of that, and maybe Davies doesn't have the vision and quick thinking to go along with this passion and effort. Barkley Davies might have been a great new midfield duo for us in a different dimension - like a true blue heart of the team - but neither of them have shown any quality consistently. Definitely agree need sweet passers and people who can break up play and tackle but play a variety of good passes after that.

So i go with 4 IN before the end of the window (unless nobody else leaves lol)
-RIGHT BACK: gone quiet on other options than the Antwerp lad (maybe not a starter material yet).
-CENTRE MID: The Fulham player or Nunes type of player. Maybe Longstaff is on the same list.
-ATTACKING MID: Replacement for James. I would hope it is someone with a good goalscoring record. So Correra of Lazio seems to fit the bill rather than Mc Neill and i am not sure Barkley is the type of player for Benitez. Countinho might be on the list of Benitez too cant see it though.
-BACK UP STRIKER: even if we can not get rid of Kean surely someone like Rondon is needed. Or a younger option like Hoppe.

Hoppe at under 5M is a steal. You will not lose money on the guy. Worst case scenario he's a complete bust (which I don't see happening with his size, athleticism, and technically ability) and he gets sold back to MLS for what you paid for him. At 20 years old he's made enough impact with the USMNT already to be worth that to domestic clubs over here in the States.

Hopefully he'll be an instant impact sub who will dribble at defenders and is a presence in the box at 6-3. He's very much a late bloomer by today's standards, he was a top goal scorer in our national development league but was never called into the youth national team for some reason, which isn't surprising considering how woefully managed our youth team shave been over the last 4-5 years. He signed with Schalke when he was 18 without much fanfare, and then came out of nowhere to be their top goal scorer playing only half of their matches last season after starting the year in the U20's.

From watching Schalke and seeing his goals I assumed he was a fox-in-the-box poacher type, because that's what they asked him to do, but this summer with the Gold Cup showed us a completely different side of his game. He's highly aggressive, will run and press for 120 minutes; he will dribble at any defender from the wing or inside forward position, and his goal to beat Qatar in the semifinals came from crashing the back post and jumping over a defender after running non-stop for 85 minutes.

He actually has a lot of Richarlison in him, and selfishly as an American I would love for him to be Richy's understudy. I'm not saying he will be on Richarlison's level, but his style of play mirrors a lot of what our favorite Brazilian does. High work rate, flair on the ball and an understanding of how to finish in the box.
You make a good case for your man amigo.

I like him now and I've never seen him play - chapeau.

Bracewell had a hunger , desire and will tin unmatched by any of our current midfield.
He could also play too.
