If they were that keen to get him off the books for a transfer fee that won't even materialise until next year, and then in parts, things must be very very tight.

Lonergan was only at Liverpool the other season to provide extra cover when Allison was injured. At this point he's pretty much a 'goalkeeper for hire' lol

Understand that. Try reflecting on some previous signings - Iwobi, Gomes, Delph, etc etc etc etc and think how they make you feel now.

It does wonders for putting this summers cheap business into some perspective I feel.

What an utterly bizarre signing and waste of wages, a kid from the u18 who would be on 10x less wages would have bene better off being 3rd choice

I see no issue at all with this. A third choice keeper with experience to train with the other 2 for I presume cheap wages.
Not something to get annoyed over.
