Wages and fee's both have an impact on the clubs economy. If theres no fee, giving a player a higher salary than you normally would to tempt him to join makes total sense. I get what youre saying, but big picture, it makes no sense.
Mina is probably our best pure defender. Saying one of our best players is on 120k pr week is not an argument to sign other players on that salary. Also Odoi would not be our best winger.

Partly to appease the player as Bayern have been sniffing around for ages. He is an excellent player, or was an excellent player…. He’s not really been playing lately so not sure if he still has the same drive and energy. Certainly no stick to beat him with that he can’t get in to the current Chelsea team which looks immense (Not that you personally are).
The big wages some players get too young to put off other clubs certainly don’t seem to help those players progress their game, especially when they are not first choice at their clubs.
Lingard is on crazy money (£125k a week) for his limited skill set at Man Utd, Loftus - cheek is another player at Chelsea who looked incredible for a while, he’s on £130k odd a week as well and hasn’t kicked on whatsoever. Personally I thought a lot of Patrick Roberts who has also disappeared after getting too much too soon.

Not for me. We’ve got a couple of cheap wingers in who have started pretty promisingly. If we were to bring in CHO on his massive wages I think it’d not only be an immediate reversion to “old Everton” but it might upset any momentum the other lads have built up.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t get a first choice winger in ahead of Townsend, just not one on such unjustifiably astronomical wages.
