a great player, who probably rightly realised Moyes was king midas in reverse for strikers and told him to get lost. Imagine his disappointment when he finally hooked up with a top manager only to be told on the flight back from another CL final that his services would no longer be required.

It's Friday so I'm here with a super optimistic take, not at all rooted in any fact or hint of actual knowledge:

- Richy and Kean will be off for combined fees/fee obligations of around £100m
- We'll get in solid, but unspectacular names at CB, RB, CM and FW for a combined £60m-£70m
- This place will fume
- We'll get to Chrimbo tussling for European positions and use the few bob left over to sign another shrewd little number or two that seals the Europa League deal for us
- This place will fume (because we "only" got EL, because Benitez is getting credit, take your pick)

I think we have an option to trigger James' contract for one extra season.

So if he did well at Porto we could add another year to his deal and sell.

Or we could conceivably leave ourselves stuck with his £200k per week wages for another year and face the same problems we've had this season.

One way or another, that option is never getting triggered

1: Nowhere near enough sales
2: Unimpressive signings

Seen the dribbling and some great shots like Coutinho used to do...work rate and being able to take a lot of physical battering will be needed in the premier league.

Really not. Its just youtube and Iwobi would probably look great but i wasnt particularly excited like I was with Lozano or Antony playing in Holland.

Portugal isnt a top league and he didnt really 'wow' me.

You don't sell one of your best players when you're already losing someone of James' quality and you don't have the foundations in place with the rest of the squad.

If we sell now we're idiots, barring getting that mental amount of money (a British transfer record).
