Absolutely nothing wrong with eating humble pie. We all have opinions, some of them prove right and others not. I've said this before but the ability to admit you were wrong is a trait, not a weakness. I'm 60 years of age and have been around the block a few times, but I'm yet to meet a person who I admire who isn't prepared to admit when they are wrong. Not one.

Apart from the wife of course
The wife is never wrong
Mistaken or ill advised maybe but never wrong

We lost £240m in two years!! or £135m over what is allowed.

Those losses will still affect our purchasing ability next season too unless we can make a big sale. It is calculated over three years.
That’s what worries me about the signings we’re making tbh I know loads are saying it’s good business and sensible but in a lot of ways we’re just kicking the can down the road by signing the likes of rondon and Townsend because in two years when we can spend again we’re going to have to replace a load of past it or short term players before we can even start improving other areas. The squad is getting older there seems to be very few young players either from the academy or bought in who are increasing in value so I’m not as convinced as some that we’re doing the right thing at the moment I suppose we’ll see.

Precisely.

And I think Townsend is an okay signing, but again, it just delays and delays

We'll be banking on selling Richy next year, likely to PSG or Madrid.

Morning Blues, with transfer deadline upon us here’s the final roundup of the rumours and stories of potential deals for 31st August.

While the forum meltdown is inevitable, let’s try and not rip into each other too much or be swayed by dubious ITKs. Hopefully we can get a few deals over the line. Good luck and enjoy!

Juventus have confirmed the loan signing of Moise Kean.

Confirming the details of this move, a Juventus club statement said:

"Juventus Football Club announces that an agreement with Everton Football Club fo rthe temporary acquisition, until 30 June 2023, of the registration rights of the player Moise Bioty Kean has been finalized for a consideration of €7.0 million, of which € 3.0 million for sporting season 2021/2022 and €4.0 millionfor sporting season 2022/2023.

"The agreement entails the obligation for Juventus to definitely acquire the player’s registrations rights, subject tothe achievement of certain given sporting objectives by the end of the season 2022/2023. The agreed considerationfor the definitive acquisition is €28.0 million, payable in three years. Furthermore, a maximum of €3.0 million of cumulative bonuses are envisaged upon achievement of furthersporting performance objectives."

Porto reportedly 'refused' Everton's first offer for winger Luis Diaz, having considered the valuation too low.

A deal is yet to be agreed between the two clubs and hope is fading that an agreement can be made.

Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade has claimed that Diaz has also been 'surveyed' by Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will make 'one last push' for a transfer.

A deal for Porto winger Luis Diaz has hit a stumbling block.

The ECHO understands that James Rodriguez was being lined up as a makeweight in the transfer but the playmaker has, so far, been unable to agree terms with Porto and without the 29-year-old involved in the deal, it makes it difficult for Everton to press ahead with plans to add Diaz to the squad.

Rodriguez is now looking to Italy, and AC Milan, for a move before this evening but no deal has been agreed.

Reported Everton target Matthew Hoppe has been offered to La Liga side RCD Mallorca.

According to Diario de Mallorca, Schalke 04 have offered the American striker to the Balearic Island club for just €3m (£2.5m).

The German side have been open to selling Hoppe all summer, with Everton one of many sides interested in the striker this window as reported by Bild.

However, the Toffees have yet to submit an offer for the attacker. And Mallorca now look like the side in pole position to snap up the 20-year-old striker on deadline day. The window in Germany closes earlier than other European countries, so a deal will have to be done soon.

Everton have been dealt a transfer blow ahead of the transfer deadline with the club now looking unlikely to sign Arsenal utility man Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The intention was that he would be brought in to provide competition for veteran club captain Seamus Coleman at right-back, but Ryan Taylor of the Express has since taken to Twitter to claim a move is at risk of collapse.

Now understand Ainsley Maitland-Niles to #Everton is unlikely. Clubs have been trying to negotiate a deal (loan + option to buy) but no breakthrough in talks. Feeling is he could now stay at #Arsenal. #EFC

Everton are hoping to sign Salomon Rondon before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

According to Liverpool Echo, Rafael Benitez is keen on reuniting with the Venezuelan striker having previously worked with him at Newcastle United.

Everton are in talks to sign Salomon Rondon but the move is being complicated by money owed to the striker by his Chinese club Dalian Yifang

Toffees boss Rafael Benitez wants a reunion with the Venezuelan - who he signed for Newcastle and Dalian - and it is hoped a deal can be struck before Tuesday’s deadline.

However, Sportsmail understands the situation is complex due to the number of intermediaries involved and Rondon potentially having to forgo a significant sum of cash to make the transfer happen.

Everton and West Ham United have been linked with a move for Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga.

According to Foot Mercato via GFFN, the 24-year-old is valued at €20 million and the two Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on his situation.

With less than 48 hours to go until the transfer deadline the future of James Rodriguez remains uncertain.

What’s clear is that Everton manager Rafael Benitez does not see the Colombian in his plans and is keen to get his rumoured £200,000-a-week wages off the books to help fund deals elsewhere.

Colombian reporter Pipe Sierra claims AC Milan are interested in the 30-year-old. This is not a new link, the Italian club had been credited with an interest earlier in the summer. However, this was shot down just as quickly as it emerged by an Italian journalist Antonio Vitiello, who claimed James is not a target for the Rossoneri.

Everton have decided against making another offer for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson, according to reports in the English media.

The Toffees are said to have tabled a second bid worth £8m (plus add-ons) for the 19-year-old, which was rejected by the Gers earlier this week. (Rangers News Online)
