Does anyone actually want Rondon.. or is it just we don’t have a backup striker the real issue.. will do what we did last year and Richy will play striker as we can fill the winger gaps.

I would rather get no one than the wrong player. What was the point of King?
Not exciting at all, but it's a handy player to have as your backup striker

The King transfer was clearly a situation of 'we need a backup striker let's just get one that might be available' and it just happened to be King who Ancelotti didn't fancy in the end.

Rondon though Benitez actually wants him.

They should indeed be selling but very very few have any money to buy ( us included )
Hence we are seeing a lot of loans with option / obligation to buy , as clubs are hoping they will have normal revenue streams in the future
There are a load of bargains out there if we had money to spend
@catcherintherye and others predicted this earlier in the year
The full effects of Covid are yet to be seen
A recession unlike anything we have seen since the war is coming down the tracks
Governments printing money like it’s going out of fashion is only delaying things

All markets are essentially a balance between buyers and sellers. There has been a big reduction in buyers. Stupidly football has done nothing to amend legislation that prevents buyers spending what they like.

What this means, is for the few buyers who are left, they know they are in a very strong position.

What's also clear, is we are not the only ones in this mess. Pretty much every team is saying the same thing-that they want 6 or 7 out. My mates who support West Ham want players out. Red mates want Origi, Phillips, Minamino, Chamberlain and Keita all moved on. Nobody wants them. They wanted to bring in 100m+ this window and have broght in about 20, and most of that is for Wilson, who Fulham only start paying for next season (and I bet their are some strings attached to it).

As for the recession, yes belt tightening or inflation is coming. And this years announced results (so last years results) are going to be brutal for football.

Unless there are any solid developments reported before early evening (5-6pm) I can honestly see it being a quiet one.

It’s a crap situation, best just to wait till the deadline has passed. Something might happen. We are not exactly lacking in experience in last minute deals.
