Everton Summer transfers 2021

If Benitez has made it clear that he has no place in the team for a lad who can't run, getting even a portion of his wages off the books makes sense - he earns about £10m per year from us, even getting a quarter of that off the books makes sense if (and only if) Benitez can't fit him into his tactical set-up. That's a whole other argument, but the short version for me is that we look like a far more cohesive unit this season already and I doubt that James could play on the right of that set-up or in the area where Richarlison has been and give us the same defensive solidity and pressing.

Anyway, moot point - it'll be a bit annoying watching him play elsewhere and paying part of his wages when he's such a wonderfully talented player, but even this early in the season I can understand why Benitez wants no part of him in his team.

It makes no sense to me unless it is very, very low (i.e. 10/15%). If he stays, use him

I dont see a good season being quite as black and white as you for a start but in answer to what I want to see it’s evidence that the club has a clear strategy to get back to where I want them to be and that they’re making the moves to help them do it. Yet again that hasn’t been the case for me this summer but maybe it has for you which is great if a little bit perplexing.
You can't have a clear strategy when faced with so much instability, our strategy has been reactive and subject to meeting Managers demands - Koeman, Allardyce, Silva, Ancelotti, Rafael all of whom have wanted players, yes Brands is director of football but he is chasing his tail every 12-18 months to get a new manager.

We have owners who want to be part of the process, who want to see certain players but that's football.

My point is we now seem to be seeing a focused Branthwaite, Godfrey, Nkounkou, Gray linked with Patterson, Maitland-Niles - young proven players that have the potential or in the case of Godfrey and Gray to be outstanding players.

We are, sadly and predictably, trying to sign Someone Random on a free, but are struggling to meet his wage demands.
I'm actually quite pleased we are not acquiescing to his wage demands. Never in a million years should we be paying Rondon 100k per week.

Would much rather take that money and go sign young Hoppe.
