Expecting someone to come in and improve the squad?

Never understand the bed wetting shouts. Fans just want better players. It’s not like we’ve been league champions the last two seasons, we’ve been 12th and 10th and have some of the most dislikeable players I’ve ever known.
Nothing wrong with that at all mate; for me personally it’s the ones who choose to ignore the very obvious, very tight constraints we’re having to operate under that do my box in. We’ll get Rondon in if he agrees to wages on offer, AMN if Arsenal agree to a loan or a (well) sub-£10m fee and maybe another surprise loan. Even that is all looking a bit beyond the realms as time ticks on.

Brands was brought in to fix a mess, that was the supposed idea.

Three years later, if you're in a bigger mess that doesn't say anything to his credit.

I accept that there are bigger forces at play, but his name is on the door, like the managers, and we have had no issue in making managers accountable. It should be the same treatment for Brands. His record here is appalling.
Silva was picked by the chairman before Brands arrived.

Ancelotti was also picked by the chairman, as was Benitez.

Richarlison, Digne, Godfrey, Mina, Doucoure and Allan have been a success. Gray and Townsend may also be there, but too early to judge.

You can argue either way with James, but I like the fact that he has played for us and think overall it was a success.

Gbamin injury is something that could not be factored in.

Kean has been a failure in terms of playing, but he will turn a good profit.

Gomes and Iwobi have not lived upto expectations so far, but the new manager may change that.

Delph has been a failure, as was King (but I lay that at Ancelotti).

Branthwaite and Nkounkou are promising and at the very least will generate a fee. This is the type of player where we perhaps expected more from him but a youth team ban has clearly hampered this.

The lack of a replacement for Coleman is problematic, but it is clear they hoped to promote Kenny. it is also clear Ancelotti and Silva were more concerned with other areas of the team. We did have player on loan but chose not to follow through.

Brands did manage to get decent fees for Vlasic, Lookman, Gueye and Kean. He got nominal fees for Bernard and Schniderlin.

Shifting players has been the biggest problem, but they are mostly from the previous regime and were quite frankly unsellable because of the contracts they had been given.

Sandro, Niasse, Besic, Tosun, Walcott, Martina, etc, all woeful. Sigurdsson is another, signed before he joined.

The financial predicament we are in is because the chairman has backed the managers as we would wanted but the unwanted players have stuck around. The majority of these were from the previous DoF.

There is also COVID to consider. Brands has made mistakes, no doubt, but I dont think he can be held to account for the ravages a global pandemic are having on football finances.

My final thought would be that we have gone through repeated changes of manager and have not managed to get a settled squad or approach for any period of time. It really does have a big impact on the performance of the club. We need a period of stability and consolidation if we are to move forward, not endless change.

That's what I've been trying to get at. Nothing this Summer has suggested we're going to land a £30m+ player today (Luis Diaz) and yet people scream murder we haven't signed one? People need to massively lower their expectations.

Anyone know how the new visa stuff works? If we agree a fee and wages with someone and apply for a visa before the 11 window shuts and submit it would it be allowed or does the visa have to be confirmed before 11? I remember fellaini signing after I’d been watching the transfer deadline day all day and found out he’d signed in the morning.(obviously didn’t need a visa then)

I can't believe people constantly moan about the current state.

Moshiri came in and tbf to him has splashed the cash, yeah a lot of the signings haven't quite panned out. Klaassen, Sandro and co + many more.

But at the time when they were signed, people weren't moaning was they?

It hasn't gone how we would have hoped, but no one can sit there and argue he hasn't tried.

It really is hard in the current game to find genuinely good players. Not like 10-15 years ago when players just cared more and I think the average ability was much higher.

Regardless, just is what it is

The Transfer window is still open, so let's wait and see.....you missed Gray, so is it this window that you are not happy with or the last several???? You just need to make your mind up, are pissed off about this transfer window or multiple windows. My response was based on previous transfer windows and a desire to bring in younger players with potential, this is a clear plan.

How is it hard to understand that when you keep changing managers, it's going to affect transfers......
We can't spend like we have done in other windows yet we have brought in two impactful players that add something to the squad for £1.5 million -
How hard is it to understand that I’m talking about the club as a whole and that all these things you’re saying about changing managers and different managers are all included? You’re trying to talk down to me as if I’m the thick one when you don’t even understand the conversation. I didn’t miss gray I just listed the old players we signed to highlight that your talk of a clear plan of youngsters coming through is an utter joke imagine thinking signing a couple of kids and one 25 year old over the space of a few years is clear evidence of that sort of plan when you look at all the older players we’ve signed in the same period. We see it differently it’s fine but people like you who get on their high horse thinking you’re so much better because you’re happy with cheap signings get right on my last nerve.
