Never heard credible recent links to Celik or Arias and it appears we weren’t keen on Buta for whatever reason. How can we have failed at something we didn’t attempt to accomplish?

Not getting a RB in is definitely a failure in itself but after recent times we should know better than most footy fans that bringing in players just because they’re available - as opposed to because they’d be a good fit - is not what constitutes success.

Whether we’re linked to them isn’t the point though is it surely you can see that. The point being made is that we should have been after them not that we were. You don’t have to agree of course but people are just naming players that they think we might have been able to get and who would improve us not claiming we failed to get deals over the line for them.

He was well aware. Sidibe was brought in on loan over a year ago. That failed.

He had his faults, of course, and probably wasn't the answer but strange in hindsight that we didn't take him for £13m when we've failed in the next two transfer windows to address the right back position. The squad definitely stronger with him in it compared with Kenny/ Holgate as our back up right backs
