You don't get in advanced negotiations for Aarons without some semblance of idea of a few.

We weren't in advanced negotiations?

We asked how much, they said £30m, we moved on.

Issue is we didn't get any of our other targets and now are going to have to muddle through.

The money has to come from somewhere though, including future debt repayments to fund the build which directly filter into the profit and loss account through interest payments.

To think the two are not linked is bonkers.

Because they're not.

If the club can show in the accounts that costs are attributed to infrastructure investment then they are not counted towards UEFA FFP or Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules.

Keeping James is absolutely fantastic. We literally just needed Rondon and a RB and this window was a huge home run. Please Seamus, stay healthy through December.

He's a supremely talented player mate, but he won't play under Benitez unless injuries make it necessary. I also suspect a lot of what we wanted to do today was dependent on him being moved on.

Watch Seamus to start and play 3 competitive international games with ireland in 7 days...no chance he'll come back injury free...he should have retired from international football a long time ago...

We were banking on Kean being sold. Quite a shock when they only wanted a loan. Ahh the halcyon days of summer, Kean was supposed to be going for a 40 possibly 50 million according to some on here.

He was our transfer budget, along with £10m for Bernard (which Ancelotti supposedly blocked) and £5m for Kenny. None of which happened.

That’s largely unfair firstly mate, we were second at Xmas last year. Secondly it’s speculative - you are posting your opinion not fact. Arguably we regressed when he was not fit.

Essentially I could say we would have maximum points now if James had played all our games.

Your also missing the fundamental points of the compounding problem, which was the topic of the debate.

Jamo is indicative of the problems we have the club, have a quality player, on a big contract, a DOF who recruited him, who wants to get rid of him 12 months after signing him on 200k and a manager who can’t and could never get the best out of him, one hell of a manure storm.
It's not just the manager though. To get the best from him we have to overhaul the whole team. For example I think Richarlison is a wholly incompatible player with James. So really if we were going to make James the centerpiece of the team, and for me that is the only way it can work because of his limitations out of possession, we needed to sell Richarlison. That might be slightly extreme but it kind of goes for a lot of our players. Doucoure isn't a good player to have with him. Neither is Allan. Neither is Seamus. He's a technical player, a quick ball mover, it doesn't work if he's not got some of those types to combine with.

I think you're right, it does show the problem but for me it shows the problem of not having a clear idea of how the pieces fit when you sign them. We sign the players and hope the manager can figure it out. Sometimes the puzzle pieces simply won't fit.
