Everton Summer transfers 2021

I tnhink Covid19 toppled the club over a cliff it had sidled up to but thought it would never go over. That was idiocy made madness by a natural unforseen event. If Covid19 hadn't happened we'd still be in buying mode.

The massive losses are ultimately down to 5 changes of manager - that leads to a lot of waste in terms of players not being fancied by each successive appointment and handing them cash to correct the previous "wrong" spending. If we stick with one manager and back him for a few years then that will address itself.

This is 100% correct and we are still paying off various managers to this day

Seen so much whinging and cryarsing over the Fat Man in charge, Carlo left because there was no money for him to buy what he wanted, it has been said that Real have no money and then there is a bid for 160 million for M'Bappe with 45 million a year wages?, as @davek says we need to sit with the same manager for a few years and see where we end up, I don't believe he will be worse than 600 million and finishing 10th.

Regarding Brands, needs a kick up the arse over the right back, but I think the Patterson bids were from him and probably Buta (if true?), but that's all we have seen from him again this window? at 2 million a year for his wages, that's also criminal!

Seeing as the financial stability rules use a rolling three year period for measuring, we will still be screwed next summer.

The £240m loss will still be on the books and we are still likely to post a loss this season.

The wage bill still needs reducing.

We won’t have much ability to spend next summer either, even with a large number of players leaving.

Made that very point this morning mate. We just clear our smallest loss this year and head into two years of our biggest and like you say we likely are making a loss this year too.

Best case scenario, the new UEFA regulations kick in and PL P&S rules get binned.

We gambled massively for Ancelotti.

They will have to sell Richarlison or DCL next summer.

Isn’t the rules 105mil over 3 years? And if so why do you keep mentioning 240mil

And also didn’t Moshiri turn some loses into equity?

It's looking likely that we will have to make a big sale next summer in order to fund a rebuild, coupled with all of the saved wages we should be recouping from those out of contract.

The two lads and likely the club are getting to the age and contract situations were they will be having a look around. Both have made rumblings.

Selling Richarlison for upwards of 80m probably removes most of our financial issues. I'd love to keep him long term but I don't see it, and we might not have a choice.

Lots of players are out of contract next year so we will need replacements. Above all we need some production from the academy.

It's the great reset. We are in for a belt tightening regime for a few seasons - and I think the club with a stadium to sort out will welcome that and the external imposition of spending restrictions, so I'm not sure they would be hoping for it to be binned, Neiler.

IIRC when Moshiri came in he said that Everton had a window of opportunity spending wise in terms of squad building - which I always took to mean that he'd accept a lot of debt up to a point. Obviously we've run out of road in that respect, hastened by the pandemic. He and Usmanov are done with spending.

Next summer we'll have players out of contract to replace, so we'll see players in by necessity. They'll get players out and look for Gray / Townsend type replacements with savings in wages in mind; they'll also have a sale of Richarlison or DCL prepared in order to give the manager the proceeds. Our spending will look more like a bottom half of the table team than a top four team as it's been for the last 5 seasons.

I think this is one of your best posts!

We have(not just us, others will too) feel the effects for a wee while yet.

*someone vault this, I agreed with Dave

We've been that solider before mate, incredibly we were relatively more successful!

Adversity sometimes inspires creativity.

When these mad spending years are looked back on, i wonder how we will think of them, its probably one of the worst periods ever in the whole management of the club ever, just for sheer waste, mismanagement, decision making, governance, lack of continuity consistency, and excluding Johnson era finance wise.
