Three long-term injuries in the past three seasons is a bit of a red flag. Seems to have been used more sparingly this year and he's managed to stay fit.

Every keeper in the league makes those types of errors. He was a fraction away from getting it. Yeah it’s a mistake but it’s not a ‘he’s a rubbish keeper’ mistake. The best keepers around make that type of error all the time.

The point is more he makes errors with a frequency that makes us forget about some of them.

I've said a lot his errors wouldn't concern me if he makes saves at a high level, which he actually did against Chelsea, but by and large that hasn't been what he's done the last couple of seasons.

I agree with you I'm just saying I don't really know what Carlo feels is best at this point.

Why would we spend 35m for someone to watch Calvert-Lewin play?

Can play off the striker aswell. 90 in 200 apps is a great return. Unless we bring in some world class goal scoring mid we can't expect richy and dcl to be the only ones scoring

Probably, but sadly his midfield options don't give him much leeway.

It should be clear to Ancelotti by now...

Ancelotti has been trying all season to get James behind DCL and Richalrison, for a number of reasons it hasn’t happened. Here’s a few:

We don’t have a right back who can cross a ball

We don’t have any mobile midfielders apart from Docuoure and Allan who have both been injured.

Keane and Mina can’t run.

Richalrison seemingly can’t use his left foot any more.

We’ve literally played 433 with James coming in behind the two strikers. 3412 with wingbacks, 442 with a diamond. Ancelotti has tried all of them but the only formation this group seems to be able to play is 4231 with Richalrison and Iwobi out wide because it’s the only formation that means the midfielders don’t have to run much and the right back doesn’t have to create anything.

With Italian clubs financially struggling by all accounts, maybe we’d have a good chance if ancelotti wants him.

Transfermarkt has him playing attacking midfield twice in over 300 appearances.

I'm sure we could sign him it is more a question of being worth it. He's got penalties helping his goal totals a lot. Since he had what is currently and outlier of 26 goals he's never hit more than 16 and his best mark taking out pens is 10. At 27 I don't really see the point unless he's basically free.

He has a €100m clause included in his contract with the Granata, but it is only valid for clubs outside Serie A.

I very much doubt we sign him.
