....Vydra isn’t a ‘big unit’, he caused Keane all types of problems when we recently played Burnley.

it’s all about opinion, but regardless of who we play, Godfrey is now first choice CB. We seem well covered there (remember Gbamin can also cover CB), I see no reason why we’d be after another central defender unless Keane or Mina is leaving.

RB, back up striker, a creative and mobile central midfielder & a goal scoring RW would be positions where we could improve the quality of the squad.
Barnes and Wood are though and I agree unless redshift one of Keane or Mina, centre half is not a priority. Right back, attacking forward, fast, that can play any position across the front three if possible, if not right wing. And a box to box midfielder for me.

Gomes is turbo poo.

lots of games under his belt and has delivered in less than a hand full of games. Total
Luxury player.

doesn’t tackle, doesn’t assist, doesn’t score.

compete waste of a midfield position.

nice bloke but needs shifting
All true. He looks handsome and stylish on the ball though.

I wonder whether we'd see him at his best with better medfielders around him. Until we do, he shouldn't be in the starting 11.

I think we have seen him at his best quite a lot, and that’s the problem. He’s had enough chances with enough different combos of midfield partners - The answer is most certainly not to go out and sign players with the aim of building our midfield around him. Sell.

Gomes seems to be struggling with the same confidence issues that have plagued his career. The frustrating thing is, I get the feeling there is a great player in there, somewhere. He's shown it glimpses. The problem is, he is constantly in the same team as either James or Sigurdsson, so he needs to put himself about more to make up for their shortcomings physically, and to be fair to him, the stats do back up the fact that he has by an large done that. But in doing so, he has lost what he was signed to do, what he proved early on he could do, and that is dictate tempo and be the brains.

If he was in a team that was set up for him to be the floater, I think he would, or at least could, thrive, but we are not strong enough in other areas to allow him that freedom, and frankly, he is not on the same level as James.

If we could get minimum what we paid for him back, it would be a no brainer, but honestly, in the back of mind, I think there's a player there, and so I'd be looking to shift Sigurdsson and Bernard before him, as they are older, on higher wages, are less valuable, less versatile, and generally, don't offer as much as Gomes does.

He does need to start offering more though, certainly in final 3rd.

I said recently about gomes to a mate ... play him left wing because the crosses he's lashed from there have been excellent .. just feeding the overlap for digne

looked more dangerous in them positions then actual CM
He hasn't the pace mate, he looks like he is carrying a piano on his back in midfield on the wing it would be even worse full backs flying past him.

It's partly confidence partly I just don't think he has the same mobility after the injury. He was never fast but now he lumbers. That and his lack of end product, he is mainly a possession recycler he would look good in Spain or Italy.
