Everton Summer transfers 2021

Really? They are one of the worst teams in the league in my opinion and they have Oriol Romeu who plays in midfield who is one of the slowest players I've ever seen.

Think we need two centre midfielders in the summer, an anchor and a ball carrier. Bissouma would be great as the sitting midfielder, but I'd expect a bigger fish to be in for him. I have no suggestions for the ball carrier but I really don't think Ward-Prowse would be the right fit.
If the options are down to Bissouma and Ward-Prowse, and hopefully they aren't, it is easily Bissouma.

I'd be nervous. But if he's solid for us I'd probably not be bothered. He's young enough. We just have to be careful because we really aren't able to spend unlimited amounts.
Exactly. The benefit of getting Bissouma is he's already fully acclimatised to PL football but because he's not English there's far less of a premium to pay over and above his value. A solid international player with a decent national side so he won't be on int'l duty every other week. If he moves to Everton, he will know that he's been brought in to fit into an ongoing project which is what he's been used to at Brighton albeit a less ambitious, smaller degree. He's used to being a team player.

If he goes to Arsenal, there's not so much of a plan as a hope he'll shine for them. If he goes to Man U, I'm not sure there is a plan - they spend big money for players because the fans expect it.

Yes you'd like to think that we will cast our nets far and wide this summer and look for the best value. Even though Allan and Doucoure are our 2 best centre midfielders, in a perfect world (my opinion at any rate), they'll be competing for the same spot in a midfield 3 next season alongside two new recruits.

I do like both of them but neither of them have the defensive acumen to play Infront of the back 4.

If you play in the current Saints midfield you have to be able to press, run and tackle - to say JWP is another Siggurdsson because he doesnt skip past players at lightening pace and is good at set pieces is a lazy comparison imo.

Him and Doucoure (who many hipsters slated as being crap on here when he was at Watford) would be first names on the team sheet in terms of the midfield.
I don’t rate him.

It's really not, I challenge you to actually focus on him next time he plays, yeah he makes a good run here and there or puts his foot in once or twice but largely he just drifts and often totally disappears in the middle third especially when we're building play. We should be looking to replace him in the first XI.

Tbf he's carried our midfield the majority of the season mate.

In the first half he spent his time covering James and Coleman from being doubled up on with their lack of pace.

In the second half he's had no Allan and had to babysit 2x of Slowmes/Sig/Davies.

Put Allan and another CM who can tackle alongside him and he is a very good player imo.

Not world class but a vital engine in the team.

Our midfield has been bad a majority of the season!

Think
I really like him mate think him and Bissouma at Brighton are top quality albeit different players.

For me we cant rely on either James or Allan to stay fit for more than half the season so ideally we need 2 CM's - those two or even just the one coming in would be amazing depending on finances.

You dont play in a high press side like Southampton and be a slacker - lad presses, tackles, moves around and isnt static waiting for the ball, wicked set piece / cross delivery and can actually pass the ball forward as well.
agree on bissouma exactly what we lack when allan dacoure out

Simply put Everton wont win nothing with deadwood, its crippling the club of progress and I cant see the team doing anything either next season such is the volume of deadwood at the club, I am astounded by the people disagreeing with me - either we are watching different teams here or have entirely different expectations.

Is easier to note down who would we keep as there are so many that are not up for the job its an entire team in itself.

keepers Need new 1st choice

Defence IN - Digne, Godfrey, Keane,
OUT and/or Subs Mina, Coleman, Holgate

Middle IN - Allan, Doucoure
Out - Everyone else! Gbamin, Sigs,Gomes, Iwobi, Bernard
Subs - Davies

Attacking IN - Rich, Lewin
Out - King - er Tosun
In - ish? - Kean

So overall its pretty grim, I don't know about others but I want Everton to compete with the best and win something, my bedroom wall has Duncan Ferguson, Anders Limpar and Dave Watson celebrating the FA Cup in 1995 - I would really like some new posters - It isn't going to happen with this lot

The good news is all that deadwood should at least be gone by the time the new stadium is ready!

So we haven't missed him then? We haven't won in five matches. Doucoure was holding our midfield together.
