I'd be more in this side too. Essentially all of them have got close at different times to nailing the door down but none of them have completely done it. Probably harshest on Godfrey who's only been here 9 months and is the youngest, so he has the best chance of doing so moving forward.
They all seem to get to a point where you sort of think- "he's almost made that position his own" and then either a poor run of form or an injury creeps in.
I mean under the radar, but Michael Keane has actually been quite poor for some time. He has a spell like last season, particularly after lockdown where he is man of the mtch most weeks, then looks at sixes and sevens away at Brighton or against Crystal Palace the next.
The only defence I'd make for them, is I don't think the continual chopping and changing of formations, partners, game plans etc from the manager really helps. In all honesty they'd all probably benefit from a Moyes type manager who was just going to drill them into one shape and doing 1 thing. How much you blame the manager or the players for that is obviously open to intepretation.
They are all just this really odd mix our centre backs, where I can never quite form my opinion on them. Lots of our players I just want shut of, lots of others I am completely supportive of, but they seem to specialise in just keeping themselves in that unknown area.
