Everton Summer transfers 2021

For me fully fit Doucoure is currently our 8th best player in a given XI
What's Gomes then, you have a weird thing against him but Doucoure has been one of our key players this season we have nobody else with his box to box/running ability. We need more of his type not to be getting rid of him. We look at moving Delph, Gomes, Iwobi, Bernard first then getting more mobile and athletic and creative midfielders and wide options.

Which is okay isn't it.

You add someone like Zakaria, just as an example of a powerful midfielder who also has that better ability on the ball, into a midfield with Allan and Doucoure, and you'd be cooking on gas

Is Zakaria over the long term injury ?

If were after a very quick player in that position who is a quality all rounder with loads of potential its Kamara at Marseille.

One year on his deal and Marseille need the money.

Kessie who youve mentioned before also with a year left.

It would be ideal if we signed two athletic and good all round central midfielders so that we dont lose the midfield battle every single game...and dont have the injury risk we face without Gbamin / Doucoure / Allan.

Gomes is lower obviously. He's better than the keeper, the RB and either the RW or the third CM if James is on the right. The other players in our best team are all better players.

It's fine but it doesn't make him "one of our most important players" (that isn't quoting you, just a general sentiment) and it definitely doesn't make him someone who shouldn't be on the list of those we try to upgrade on this summer.

I don't think he's been as good this season as before but there's definitely been signs of him coming back. I was very impressed when they played City. He's a player I've liked for a while just not been dead certain on him. However, given our squad and our other areas of need, I think he's the type of player our midfield really lacks, but it would have to be with the proviso we went for a wide player too, so that we still had different options to play.

I like Kamara, but always see him as more of a sitter, not really a ball carrier.

Kessie would be the ideal but with Milan getting CL I think he'll sign on a new deal. Wouldn't hurt to try, like.

Okay maybe we should rephrase.

To however we currently want to play that isn't totally sluggish in midfield, he is one of our most important players, because he has the physical attributes that none of the others do.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment in all honesty.

It's no surprise that Gomes has looked better when he's played alongside Doucoure, for example.

And I think we can find someone who can both run and add something like forward passing or sound defensive positioning.

Zakaria is someone we should have gone for in addition to Gbamin at the time.

Id say Kamara is just a very good all rounder who can sit, bring the both forward and pass well when deep or central.

He can also play left back and left centre back so would be useful in the squad if needed to plug gaps.

I think he would be a great signing and available at probably £20mil ish.

Gutted we missed out on his fellow Frenchman Fofana who went to Leicester of course after we were linked.

Some of the players over there would be ideal for us.

I wonder if Leicester will have a different CB next season for everyone to wet their pants over

@BlueToff just one other thing...

It will be interesting (at least for me) if we focus on that £20-30mil player range again this summer.

We do need to fill several positions of course but that to me would signal perhaps a sensible and sustainable building of the squad.

Within an ideal world that would be the way forward...however this summer there could be a real opportunity to push the boat out and bring in players for circa £35-45mil+ who have the on pitch value of a £60mil+ signing.

Theres some merit in both approaches.
