Good point, I think that was the old Kenwright strategy to save paying players wages early. I would hope under Moshiri we buy early to give Carlo a chance to get them in at the start of pre season training.Does anyone find it frustrating that other clubs are making moves for their targets now to have them ready to join after the Euros and every season we complete our transfers quite late.....
I know I haven’t
Brexit dealBtw “balks” is one of those words you only ever hear in relation to football
Has anyone ever actually “baulked” at anything other than a transfer fee?

In all seriousness, it is absolutely mad how we leave everything until the window starts to even have a discussion (going off what Carlo has said - I know he does lie).
It's been clear for 2-3 years we need a right-back. It's been clear for 2 seasons we need a wide player. It's been clear for half a season that we need a new midfielder.
I'm not expecting us to have signed all three, but y'know, it is possible to have deals lined up for when the window starts. With the tournaments (Euros, U21s (albeit that's shorter), Copa America) coming up, you either do it before or have to wait until after.
For once, it'd just be nice to see us do what Liverpool have gone and done with Konate and get the deal finalised for an area they clearly need strengthening. Just like they did with Fabinho in 2018 (signed the day after they lost the CL final IIRC).
Maybe next week we'll have got our right-back in, but we know that's not going to be the case. I know it doesn't make a difference in terms of it being, y'know, the end of the season anyway, but just some impetus would be nice, wouldn't it.
Just like that Monaco team, won the title and got sold off.We were after their right back in January I think and Leicester have already secured Soumare. Their keeper has just signed for AC. That team is going to be ripped apart and any team wanting a slice will have to move very quickly to do so

And we wonder why we haven't done diddly squat in 26 years.
Definition of insanity springs to mind with us.

Are you thinking of Ruben Loftus-cheek?
I`d take RLC TBH, big, quick and can carry the ball through midfield.
Yep sorry, agree. In my summation of athletic I'd expect them to have a bit of pace about them.I'd prioritise pace over big. Our entire midfield is far too slow, only iwobi has a bit of speed but a lack of talent is his major fault.
Was it 2006 when we signed Johnson, Howard and Lescott straight away? Surprise, surprise we started the season really well.
