Emerson is more Godfrey/Mina than Keane.

The contract they have with Betis means that they have to pay a penalty of 9M€ and give something like 50% of the transfer fee to Betis... I can't remember the exact numbers, but I'll find the article. The clauses expire or are reduced after this summer... It was/is a bit of a mad deal.

However, if they sell him this summer, they will only get 50% of the transfer fee, with the other 50% to Betis... so in order to avoid an accounting loss they would need a sale of well above 20M€.

However if they wait until January, Betis will receive only 20%, with the other 80% to Barça...

If they're paying to own 100% of him then why wouldn't they get all of the transfer fee if they sold him? Some kind of clause?

I've seen him a few times. He is... not good. Altidore-esque.

He’s still pretty raw. Good finisher but needs a lot of work to round his game out. Still only 20 though and higher upside than what Altidore had. He’ll get a chance to keep proving himself somewhere but it won’t be Everton.
