Everton Summer transfers 2021

Leicester have moved quickly?

They have been signing him for the last month, hardly quickly.

You have a misconception of what a DoF is, we dont pick managers based on style, Koeman was picked cos Hollywood, Silva was picked cos young "promising manager" and Carlo was picked cos hes Carlo Ancelotti.

Brands doesnt pick the players alone, he never has, he formulates a plan with the manager, so any plans they had, will have to wait till we get a Manager, we didnt sign any players from Feb till now cos very, very few teams sign players outside of "transfer windows", probably around 1 deal a season is done outside of transfer windows, but you know this.

You are just doing the "why havent we signed players yet" dance, in June, when we dont have a manager, when there are a Euros and potentially a Copa going on.

But hey, you want signings NOW and hell with reason.

It would be beyond stupid if Brands started buying players without knowing what style our new manager wants to play, who he likes, who he doesnt like.

We scout players all year round, its not like we start fresh when the new manager walks in the door, Brands has players in mind.

Its the same every year, when the season ends, every single player, manager and in some cases executive teams go on holiday for a few weeks, that doesnt mean deals cant be done, but it slows everything done, a Euros complicates things further, as I say, its the same every year and its quite boring.

Of course Leicester moved quickly...being in talks with a player a month ago (as you say) means that they are now signing them before the window opens.

The same goes for Villa...both clubs assessed what they needed and have moved quickly to bring in a player before the window opens.

I dont have a "misconception of what a DOF is" i literally wrote the above in the post you quoted:

Are we doing the same thing where we go from one manager to another all playing different styles needing different players?

The rest of your post is just a rant about how players arent signed before transfer windows when youve just denied Leicester have moved quickly to do so (and Villa).

You probably need to go back to bed.

I think its unrealistic that we could keep hiring managers that play the same way.

We should always go for the best option each time, now that is very subjective.

Continuity requires stability, managers crapping the bed every 18 months doesnt bring that, yes, the answer is to hire "better" managers, but the average Premier League manager gets 18months.

Anyway, as I say, Brands will have an idea who he wants and im pretty certain hes working on deals all the time, but we really need a manager before he pulls the trigger and if people cant see that, well I cant help their impatience.
It doesn't have to be exactly the same, hiring managers comfortable working within a similar framework is what we need. If we're buying young players and trying to develop you don't hire guys who aren't going to work on those goals at all. If you want to be a pressing team you don't hire Nuno. Things like that.

What it all comes back to is having a plan which is I think Brands job but he hasn't really shown he's doing it.

Brands needs to establish some continuity through the club. But that requires Moshiri to stay out and let him bring in a manager that he can work with on buying players. If we can't get Moshiri to do that we're in some trouble.

Brands simply needs to decide what style of play the club wants to get behind and deliver a manager to do this. Then carry this on with the next manager and the next.

Otherwise you scout players all season based on one set of requirements only to then need to go down another path with players you havent seen as much of.

Then you think we should be hiring different style managers (as weve been doing) which means that players signed arent suited to that managers style.

Then the players scouted heavily will be different to the ones needed.

This is exactly the problem weve had since Koeman.

Wouldn't he have been 24-25 when he was at his peak and they won the league? And people are still pretending that isn't the new norm?

I remain far from fully convinced by the Dumfries link.... 15-20 million on a 25 year old who has never played the PL is risky. Get younger blood Marcel!

We’ve tried the “Premier League proven” thing before, we ended up with Bolasie, Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson. I hope we don’t buy a single player directly from another Premier League club this summer.

True but not Dumfries...ask any PSV fan and id wager they would tell you:

Poor ball control
Cant cross a ball
Not 'technical'

I don't really care about the next James, I just want Brands main remit for players including being able to pass to a team mate, preferably in the upwards trajectory. We are the very worse in this regard. I find it embarrassing to watch us slowly inching up the pitch just to loose the ball from a wayward pass. We used to play like this under Moyes (before we had the likes of Arteta and Pienaar). We really should of progressed from this by now.

Is this accurate for data including injuries? States Neto’s return from his knee injury is August 14th, first day of the new season.

Looking online, the last reports on his injury were in April, where the speculation was 6 months, but all speculative and nothing new since so who knows.

Yeah i posted that yesterday....compare it with Lamptey:

No return date. For just a hamstring.

Seems strange to me that they would know when Neto would be back...
