Played a handful of games always out of position as a teenager in one of the worst squads ever assembled. I think it's fair to say he wasn't given much of a chance.

Do not get that never been a fan of Iwobi.
I think he would welcome a move back to the Premiership and would be coming back as an established player to somewhat familiar surroundings but a different manager(probably).
I find it hard to see this happening just as you do and had never heard of a buy back clause but it would have been a sensible thing to do.
Because we sell players and they end up as Man Utd’s best ever goal scorer or they go to inter Milan and win the league whilst smashing goals in all over the gaff or they go to Man City and win multiple trophies.
Teams sell players spud.
I mean its ok to pine for Lukaku and Rooney, they were quality players.
But people pine for Barkley and people like @Joey66 even pine for Ant Robinson at Fulham.
